Lynn Vision qualify for the Major over Grayhound

The Major will be without an Australian team for the first time since 2017.

Lynn Vision secured Chinese representation at the Major for the first time since 2021

Lynn Vision have secured their spot at the PGL Major in Copenhagen, where they will be the Asian representatives alongside The MongolZ. They are the first Chinese team to make it on Counter-Strike's biggest stage since TYLOO qualified for PGL Major Stockholm in 2021.

For Grayhound, this is a heartbreaking end to Australian teams always making the Major (or the Major Qualifier) from the RMRs (previously the Minors), dating all of the way back to the PGL Major in Krakow.

Before the final match of the RMR, the Chinese side had started their day with a loss to The MongolZ, but bounced back in the consolidation final against Grayhound, who had to make it past ATOX in the lower bracket final.

Lynn Vision turned a tough series around after losing Grayhound's Vertigo punish pick, the opening map of the series, 6-13. The Chinese squad don't have it in their repertory, as coach Yifei "GUM" Dai shared after the match, due to it being a hard map to practice in Asia because most teams in the region stopped playing it.

Grayhound and Lynn Vision were then off to an even start on Anubis, with the score all tied up after eight rounds, 4-4, but from there on out it was Lynn Vision who were generally in control of proceedings. They linked up seven rounds running across the half to set themselves up for victory, and a short three-round streak from Grayhound on the attack was just not enough to stop the Chinese machine.

It was a one-sided affair on Nuke, where Lynn Vision put up a wall and Grayhound's struggles came to the fore. A lack of ideas, whiffs, and dropping rounds with man advantages showed the Australian side's meltdown as their counterparts hit double digits at the half. With the pistol round in the trunk, LV bagged the series, 13-2.

"It's like a dream and it came true, so everybody is speechless right now," GUM said after the match. "Some of our players have spent years, six or seven years, in Counter-Strike, and they never reached the RMR or made a sticker. If you count those years, this is so unbelievable."

The reference seemed particularly adequate for Zhe "Westmelon" Niu, who has been a steady feature of Lynn Vision's roster for six years and nine months without much to show for, although the team's most visibly emotional player after the match was the newest addition, 19-year-old Dongkai "Jee" Ji, who fell to his knees in tears as the realization of what he and his teammates accomplished slowly set in.

For now I think 2 is enough. In Europe, many good teams do not qualify due to limited slots, and in Asia, only 1 or 2. I think that's fair. With 3 slots, the element of struggle and heartbreak would be lost as all the favorites would most likely qualify.

Nope, in Europe there are teams that are a joke and yet they go to the major, other regions deserves many slots as anyone, europe has almost 14 spots in the major, sa 4 and asia 2, its not fair, i cant see why u think it is fair

because most of the teams that are able to put up any competition are from Europe. Europe has 17 slots yet you see so many favorites dropped out. It says a lot. In NA you can't even gather more than a few teams with org for the RMR. In the closed quals you had 9 mixes out of 16 teams and you really ask for more slots? I know it could boost the scene, but at the cost of cs quality played at the major.

bait? There is an obvious reason for why Asia / Americas only have 7 slots in total, and that is because the regions are bad compared to Europe. Also its 5 Americas slots, and 17 Europe slots lol. If you look at the past major, where there were 5 America qualified teams and 2 Asia-Pacific ones. Asia had literally both teams fall out in the challenger stage. Americas had 3 teams fall out in the challenger stage. So of the 8 teams that leave the major in the challenger stage, 2 of them were asia, and 3 of them Americas while 3 were europe. Europe having 17 Slots with 10 in the challengers stage only had 3 teams lose in there. Looking at Mouz and OG, two of the European teams that fell out in the challengers stage, both of them only faced European competition, meaning they didn't even get to play a Americas / Asian team, Forze did face Liquid, but Liquid was also by far the strongest team in Americas showing to surprise for why forze lost to them. Only Furia and Liquid made it to the Legends stage with Furia bombing out 0-3. With furia even getting the Legends spot rmr slot. With their form they would have never left challengers stage otherwise. Liquid was the only non-european team that looked good and also made it to the playoffs in which they lost to Apeks in the first round.

It probably is bait, and your post perfectly explains why the distribution looks like it does right now. I could see the Americas dropping a spot at Copenhagen, but it remains to be seen what will happen.

Honeslty i disagree, i feel like the americas region has been looking pretty crisp recently. Liquid has a super team that for some reason cant do anything tho MIBR has been doing a lot of damage whenever they get to play COL hasn't looked that good, but is probs gonna do better than last major Furia, not looking good honestly. I can imagine them maybe not even qualifying but usually do a lot better on LAN, and also at the majors. Then let's go to the T2 that has been looking well, and will likely have 2 teams of these at the major Nouns M80 (sadly without IGL) Wildcard Imperial (and possibly?) Boss Elevate (Timbermen) Legacy I feel like all of these teams have a good chance to do some damage. Especially Wildcard has been looking crisp. I def see them higher than teams like Fluxo or Pain that qualified to the past major. Honestly Liquid should be qualifying to the Champions stage, and would not surprise me if MIBR managed to make it too, but that might be a bit of a longshot. CoL / Furia should both at least make it to the legends stage The T2 teams also IMO have a chance to get to the Legends stage, even if only barely; but will most likely fall in the challengers stage as a 2-3 team.

It just doesn't work that way, yes there are the 8 spots in the Opening Stage that are reserved, but outside of that it's performance based, if Asia (or the Americas) "deserve" those spots then they can take them fair and square.

You are allowed to have an opinion on the slot distribution of course, but outside of the 8 reserved spots in the Opening Stage, it's all performance based and if the Mongolz earn a 3rd spot for their region at Copenhagen it doesn't really matter what you think.

Somebody has to go 0-3, but just making it the major is a big deal for any team. That potential third spot won't be given to Asia though, the Mongolz will have to go and take it by getting out of the Opening Stage. That won't be an easy task.
