Eternal Fire, Cloud9 in 1-0 pool after first round of play

TheMongolz and ECSTATIC are down to the 0-1 pool after the Major’s opening maps.

woxic was on fire for Eternal Fire, earning a 1.90 rating against TheMongolz

The much-awaited PGL Major Copenhagen, the first CS2 Major, is now officially underway and it is Eternal Fire and Cloud9 who earned the first two victories in the tournament.

The Turkish side has become one of the most praised teams of late and were in a lot of 3-0 brackets in the Pick Em’s, and their first showing has reinforced their standing as a favorite with a domineering victory over the much hyped The MongolZ.

Despite losing the first pistol round on Nuke, Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli and his men bounced back quickly, winning a pistol buy in the third round, turning around their economic situation and keeping The MongolZ against the ropes all the way to a 9-3 lead.

From there on out the Turkish squad dominated and only a quad-kill by Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren in the second half stopped them from winning out 13-3. Instead, The MongolZ put up three more rounds, but eventually in vain as Özgür "woxic" Eker won a 1vs1 to put the cherry on a fantastic game which he finished with a 1.90 rating and 20 kills in 19 rounds.

Cloud9 started off their bout against ECSTATIC on the right foot with a 6-0 start on the attacking side of Ancient, but their lead quickly shrunk as they only managed one more round amid a comeback from the Danes.

It looked at points that Patrick "Patti" Larsen could lead his men to victory on the attack as they even took the lead momentarily, but in the end Cloud9’s experience shone through and with an inspired Abay "HObbit" Khassenov, who finished the map with a 1.87 rating, closed out the map 13-10 to join the 1-0 pool.
