PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024Heroic, GamerLegion join 1-0 pool in Copenhagen
Lynn Vision and AMKAL started their runs a the Major with a loss.
HEROIC, one of the favorite teams to advance from the PGL Major Copenhagen’s Opening Round, started off with a one-sided victory against one of the big underdogs, Lynn Vision.
Meanwhile, GamerLegion, who are at the Major after 9 Pandas were ruled out of the competition due to issues with travel, are making the best of this opportunity and have started their run with a victory over AMKAL.
Lynn Vision squad had some good moments and could have even caused damage if they had been able to capitalize in key moments throughout their match against HEROIC, but in the end the inability to break the CTs' economy when they had a chance in the first half came back to haunt them.
HEROIC also capitalized on plenty of individual mistakes from the Chinese side; Guy "NertZ" Iluz ninja defused to victory one round and then caught a player overpeeking to win a forcebuy not long after as he and his squad sailed to an easy 13-6 victory.
GamerLegion and AMKAL played a close first half on Overpass. The Russian team looked poised for a strong first showing in Copenhagen as they managed to take the lead before the switch, 7-5, on the map's harder T side.
But they crumbled on the defense. After winning the second pistol round, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski and his men went on an absolute tear. The European mixture won seven straight rounds on the attack to get on match point before AMKAL could even respond. And it wasn't forceful, as the very next round GamerLegion put the final nail in the coffin, 13-8.
