PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024Imperial and paiN go 2-1 in Copenhagen
The Brazilian duo secured spots in the 2-1 pool to start day 2.
The second day of play at the Copenhagen Major Opening Stage began with Imperial and paiN picking up wins against Apeks and ENCE, respectively. The two Brazilian squads are now one best-of-three victory away from an Elimination Stage spot, while the two losers are set to fight for their tournament lives in the 1-2 pool.
Imperial vs. Apeks was played on Overpass, where the Brazilian squad put up a wall on the CT side despite losing the pistol. A seven-round streak in the middle portion of the half eventually netted them a 9-3 lead, with João "felps" Vasconcellos's 20 kills proving crucial for his team's success.
Apeks won the second-half pistol and reduced the deficit to 7-9 but ran out of steam in the closing stages to drop the map 7-13 and end the best-of-one part of the Opening Stage with a 1-2 record.

The B stream opener began on Nuke, where paiN got off to a good start by winning the pistol. Kacper "Kylar" Walukiewicz clutched a 1vs3 situation to get his team within touching distance as soon as ENCE got a full buy, but Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt soon took over the game. He secured three clutch rounds in a row to help his team get up to 10 rounds at the half, with paiN's captain sitting on 20 kills at the switch.
A second-half pistol for paiN meant their win was only a matter of time, and while Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's 1vs2 clutch gave ENCE a slimmer of hope, their comeback lasted just one round. paiN then closed out a comfortable 13-3 victory to secure their spot in the 2-1 pool and move within one win of the Elimination Stage.
