The Brazilian team lives to fight another day in Denmark after a very strong performance.
Legacy are through to the 2-2 pool of PGL Major Copenhagen's Opening Stage after a quick 2-0 victory over Apeks. The Brazilian team shook off the disappointment of yesterday's thrashing at the hands of GamerLegion as they made light work of another European team in a one-sided series in which they had the upper hand throughout.
"In the last Major I lost to Apeks with paiN, and I remember that bad feeling," Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato told HLTV after the match. "Not because we lost to them, but going out of the Major is really bad, so the feeling of winning is really good. Thank God, everything went really well today: The calls, the shots, very good shots, by the way."
Apeks couldn't capitalize on their map pick of Ancient, where the first half ended with a lopsided 9-3 scoreline as Legacy put up a strong defense, led by an in-form Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara. It was only when they were down 12-3 that Apeks were able to string some rounds together, but a Tec-9 push onto the B site sealed the victory for the Brazilians.
Just like on Ancient, Apeks drew first blood on Inferno but could not follow it up as Legacy responded immediately on a force buy. The Brazilians carved out a two-round lead, but then Apeks enjoyed a spell of success as they won five rounds in a row en route to a 7-5 half.
The tone of the game changed in the second half, and Legacy asserted themselves once more. Apeks looked toothless on the offense and bereft of ideas as they couldn't find a single round throughout the half. With their Major campaign ending on such a flat note, even Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad admitted that the team's future is unclear. "I don't know what is next for us at the moment," he wrote on X, adding that this was a "completely awful event" by his team.
