MOUZ, NAVI survive openers against underdogs

ECSTATIC and TheMongolz fall to the 0-1 pool after taking a swing at the Legends teams.

MOUZ and Natus Vincere have won their first matches in PGL Major Copenhagen's Opening Stage after surviving close affairs against ECSTATIC and The MongolZ, respectively.

It's always a question mark whether the new teams coming to the Major straight to the second stage could come in rusty, and that seemed to be the case for MOUZ at least as they struggled early against one of the surprises from the first stage.

ECSTATIC led them 6-1 on the much less favored Terrorist side of Overpass with in-game leader Patrick "⁠Patti⁠" Larsen leading by example, but the Danes could not quite finish off the job despite MOUZ's individuals looking cold to start.

That was largely thanks to Ludvig "⁠Brollan⁠" Brolin, who stepped up massively in crucial moments to help MOUZ recover from the slow start. His solo double from heaven in round eight won a 3v3 retake situation and got the comeback underway, and he went on to put up five more multikills and a match-deciding 1v2 clutch that dumpstered ECSTATIC's economy in the final two rounds.

In the other match, The MongolZ and Natus Vincere wrestled for control all throughout their Mirage affair. A halfbuy win at 9-9 ultimately made the difference as Valeriy "⁠b1t⁠" Vakhovskiy's Tec-9 double opened up the B site for NAVI's first round against weapons in the second half, and from there NAVI clinched the chaotic match 13-10.
