PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024Vintage electroNic carries Cloud9 to win over G2
Over on the B stream Virtus.pro made light work of HEROIC.
Cloud9 and Virtus.pro have moved to the 2-1 pool in the PGL Major Copenhagen's Elimination Stage with wins over G2 and HEROIC, respectively.
Cloud9 continue to grow in stature in spite of their lack of a fulltime AWPer, with the improved level of their riflers now their most potent boon, whilst Virtus.pro continue their recovery after an uncharacteristic flop in their opening game at the Major.
G2 meanwhile suffered as a result of their misfiring stars, particularly Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, whilst HEROIC were on the receiving end of some tilting round losses early in their defeat, and couldn't recover.
G2 opted to allow Anubis through the veto in their matchup with Cloud9, and they were made to regret letting the Russians play their best map. G2 came out swinging on their T side and ran out to a 4-0 lead, but Cloud9's assertive CT approach, led by Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov, bore fruit and brought the score back level by halftime.
The second half was all Cloud9 thanks to a superlative 141 ADR performance by Denis "electroNic" Sharipov, who provided consistent output and immense impact to ensure his team secured a relatively comfortable 13-9 win in the face of a virtually absent G2.

HEROIC took to the server against Virtus.pro on Ancient, and suffered as a result of some early round losses that were difficult to stomach; multiple man-advantage situations were squandered and flanks or timings were missed, which allowed Virtus.pro to grab a near-insurmountable 10-2 lead off the back of their defense. HEROIC mustered a few rounds in the second half via a pistol win, but couldn't really get their heads back in the game and Virtus.pro duly secured a 13-6 win.
