karrigan: "Retirement is not on the horizon for me"
The Danish tactician said he wants to continue pushing everyone to their limit after adding another title to his CV on the day he celebrated his 34th birthday.

FaZe picked up their first title of 2024 on Sunday as they defeated MOUZ 2-0 in the grand final of IEM Chengdu in front of a sold-out crowd at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre.
For Finn "karrigan" Andersen, it has been a highly successful return to FaZe after a first stint with the North American organization between 2016 and 2018. Since re-signing with FaZe in 2021, he has led the team to eight LAN trophies, including a long-awaited Major crown in Antwerp in 2022.
The IEM Chengdu trophy came on the day karrigan celebrated his 34th birthday. With a career dating back to the mid-2000s in 1.6, he is one of the oldest and most experienced players in all of esports, and he made it clear that he doesn't know when he will call it quits.
"The main thing is that I want to make history with FaZe Clan," he told reporters at a press conference after the final. "That's why I came back. I knew when I came [back] to FaZe that this would probably be my last team.
"I want to push everyone to their limit. I'm pushing myself to the limit. Retirement is not really on the horizon for me. The most important thing is that I will never let the team down. If I'm not the right captain for the team one day, I will understand that. But for now, I think I'm still improving individually and as a captain, and the team is improving."
karrigan acknowledged that winning the IEM Chengdu trophy will probably "release some pressure from our shoulders" after a string of second-place finishes, even though he insisted that he was "super proud" that the team had managed to reach so many finals in Counter-Strike 2.

FaZe will have only a few days' rest before going back on the road. The next tournament is the ESL Pro League Season 19 in Malta, which could put them one step closer to winning another Intel Grand Slam season.
"Now with a victory, I can sleep a little bit better the next few days," he said. "[I want to] try to keep making history and win as much as possible.
"The main goal is IEM Cologne for me, right now. The most important tournament of the year is Cologne, together with the Shanghai Major. And we'll take it from there. Why not be a two-time Grand Slam winner?"
