Virtus.pro win 2-0 as Falcons continue to flounder

Virtus.pro had to battle on Vertigo but utterly outclassed Falcons on Mirage.

fame was vital to Virtus.pro's efforts throughout the series

Virtus.pro have opened their BetBoom Dacha Belgrade account with a 2-0 victory over Falcons, grinding out a win on Vertigo (16-13) before battering Falcons on Mirage (13-5).

A bout against MOUZ now awaits Virtus.pro in the next round of the group stage, whilst Falcons will take on BetBoom in an elimination match.

The start to life with Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov has been a little wobbly for Virtus.pro; they suffered a shock defeat to fnatic and were easily bested by FaZe at ESL Pro League before labouring their way to the playoffs.

Their first outing at BetBoom Dacha was a far more convincing affair, even if they did take a little while to get going on Vertigo. In typical Virtus.pro fashion they managed to grind out the victory, and then they completely demolished Falcons on Mirage to grab a feel-good win and close out the series.

Petr "⁠fame⁠" Bolyshev was the key man for Virtus.pro throughout the series, hauling his team to victory with a strong late surge on Vertigo before absolutely beasting Falcons on Mirage with a 2.05 rating and 124 ADR.

As for Falcons, they continue to flounder. The signing of Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen doesn't seem to have done much for their fortunes as they exited ESL Pro League in the group stage and have now suffered at the hands of Virtus.pro in Serbia.

Vertigo will be a map they look back on with regret as they had a 6-1 lead in the first half and a 12-9 lead in the second, both of which they squandered. Mirage will be one they try to quickly forget as they were pushed around in embarrassing fashion, a first-half pistol victory and a Tec-9 force in the second their only moments of joy.

It's good to see them flop now, but the failures of Falcons and other oil-dictator-money type teams will only be temporary. Eventually, they will have invested money & given them enough time to work together, that in the future they may very well dominate the pro scene. It's not a day I look forward to, but at that the end of the day it's all about money isn't it? Same reason HLTV added bets & fantasy.

There will be. It's the reason why Faze, G2, Navi, Liquid, etc. are major teams in almost every esport. They have the most money. Now the oil tycoons are coming in and they will usurp the orgs I mentioned and start getting all the big name signings. Falcons is already dominating Dota 2. They have a solid Rocket League roster as well. It's only a matter of time and money for them to start doing it here. They've already bought out half the esports world with their world cup stuff. They have so much money to spend that orgs are completely selling out for a piece of the pie. They will not only dominate the scene, but own it entirely.

Yep. Same as how the Saudis are buying out Soccer (Football), Formula One, Cricket, Tennis and even used Sandler O'Neill & Partners (a Wall Street finance firm who lost 40% of their workers on 9/11, of which 15 of 19 terrorists were saudi BTW) to buy out the PGA Tour for golfers outright. Well, Falcons' plans have flopped from their originally planned roster lol. They destroyed ENCE and part of Vitality for this roster? I'm not saying dupreeh is the problem by any means. If anything, he will bring some stability and experience to this roster as he can still hold his own. However, the rest of the roster leaves a lot to be desired given their experience and past achievements.
