Spirit cleaned up Aurora in their first official for more than a month.

donk started Ancient by racking up a 23-4 K-D in the first 10 rounds

Spirit and Danil "⁠donk⁠" Kryshkovets marked their first match in six weeks with a battering of Aurora in two maps (Dust2 13-8, Ancient 13-7).

No ringrust showed for Spirit, an impressive feat considering the gap since their last official match came in the Copenhagen Major quarter-finals defeat to FaZe.

Spirit didn't make the cut for ESL Pro League's initial invites, and rejected the chance to be Cloud9's last-minute replacement, giving them more than a month to prepare for defending their BetBoom Dacha title.

They began that defence in style, and only winning both pistols for 3-0 and 4-0 starts to each half on Dust2 allowed Aurora the luxury of a respectable 8-13 scoreline.

Star man donk was quiet on Dust2 but absolutely dominant on Ancient, charging around with full confidence as he racked up five multi-kills in the first five rounds, and ended round 10 with 23 frags. With the game all but secure, donk capped it off with a 30 bomb and ended the map above 160 ADR.

That was enough for a 10-1 lead, before a cosmetic comeback delayed Spirit closing the map out until a 13-7 scoreline.

Aurora had been looking to convert their strong recent showings in tier two — winning Skyesports Masters and taking second place at ESL Challenger Melbourne — into a tier one LAN but were exposed by Spirit's well-oiled machine.

Overpeeks were common, such as in squandering this 4v2, as the style Aleksandr "⁠KENSI⁠" Gurkin and company utilise so well online failed to make a dent in a match where a firepower advantage could not be relied upon.

Both teams now await the victor of the game between HEROIC and MIBR, with the possibility of Spirit facing their old sniper Abdul "⁠degster⁠" Gasanov and a rematch of the ESL Challenger Melbourne Aurora-MIBR final.

i mean they already have 1/4 of the prestige events won this year and navi, who doesnt have top 1 contenders won the major. Trophy & form wise he has the best case atm beause neither zywoo or monesy have won anything and it doesnt look like monesy will in this iteration of g2 at least. Only case against donk I could see (assuming he keeps a form around this level) would be skipping 2 big events in Chengdu and epl, but then again spirit is certainly attending every top tier event for the rest of the year so it shouldnt hurt his case too much.

spirit attended dacha because its a good tier1.5 event and they had no invites to other tier1 events. its obvious for anyone with a functioning brain.
