IEM Dallas 2024Spirit and VP end IEM Dallas opening round with victories
Two one-sided maps bring the best-of-one portion of the tournament to an end.
The opening round of IEM Dallas came to an end with Spirit and Virtus.pro securing respective victories against FlyQuest and HEROIC.
Spirit vs. FlyQuest was played on the A stream and lasted a total of 23 minutes of game time as the Russian squad demolished the Aussies. FlyQuest secured their only round with a B rush with Tec-9s, during which Declan "Vexite" Portelli clutched a 1vs1 situation, but were otherwise visibly outclassed in a 1-13 loss.
Spirit now move on to face Natus Vincere for a playoff spot, while FlyQuest will meet BIG.

A similarly one-sided affair happened on the B stream between Virtus.pro and HEROIC, whose chances for victory were hamstrung by their latest addition Abdul "degster" Gasanov missing out on the tournament due to visa issues.
Despite that, HEROIC took an early lead with the help of the pistol round but were quickly reeled in by Virtus.pro. Denis "electroNic" Sharipov, who had a rough start to life under Dzhami "Jame" Ali's leadership, had a wonderful game this time around and put up 15 kills on the CT side.
Not much changed for HEROIC's fortunes on the CT side, as they won a second-round forcebuy only for Virtus.pro to answer with a similar round of their own and close out a 13-4 victory.
