IEM Dallas 2024G2 decimate FaZe en route to IEM Dallas semis
FaZe disappeared after the first half of Dust2 to suffer one of the worst defeats of this lineup yet.
G2 are through to the IEM Dallas semi-finals after a landslide victory over FaZe. The team continues their winning run despite fielding Jake "Stewie2K" Yip as a stand-in, putting up their most impressive win yet as they breezed past the world's No. 2 team.
The FaZe most known for stepping up in the arenas was nowhere to be seen, as they pulled a disappearance act on the Terrorist sides of Dust2 and Nuke.
Their debut on Dust2 went well to start, as they came away with a 7-5 half on a chaotic CT side that saw them lose clutches to Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and come away with a near full-eco victory.
But an atrocious T side followed as FaZe looked lost around the map, unable to make solo approaches early in rounds work. Quiet for the whole first half, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač stepped up to the plate with a crucial triple in defense of FaZe's B split while m0NESY dominated around the map with the AWP, and G2 went on an 8-1 run on the CT side to grab the first map.
G2 picked up where they left off on Nuke with m0NESY putting up another crucial clutch in a scary anti-halfbuy in round three. FaZe then struggled to find an answer to NiKo in Yard, and they kept running into the meat grinder time and time again, unable to even put the bomb down.
Flashy as ever, m0NESY added a quad-kill to his already impressive tally as the half was coming to an end, and that spelled FaZe's fate as they ended up with just two rounds on the offensive half.
"They played a really good game and we didn't show up, and that's how we got here," Filip "NEO" Kubski said after the match. "They had some good reads on both maps, it wasn't an easy game, they played really well."
"Obviously, this one was a disappointment, and we'll aim for better results next trip."
