YaLLa Compass 2024 teams, format, schedule, talent, prizes, fantasy

The circuit will travel to Abu Dhabi as the season nears its conclusion.

Astralis are the highest-ranked team in the tournament

Just days after G2 won a shock title at IEM Dallas while playing with Jake "Stewie2K" Yip, the Counter-Strike circuit will travel to Abu Dhabi for YaLLa Compass 2024, set to be played from June 5-9.

While the event features just three top-ten teams, namely Astralis, HEROIC, and Complexity, the tournament promises a high-octane environment between teams wanting to end their season on a high.

The aforementioned trio, alongside Eternal Fire, are the favorites for the title, but many lower-ranked squads will be looking to upset the apple cart at the event.

ENCE, fnatic, and Ninjas in Pyjamas will be making their LAN debut with their latest signings, while The MongolZ come into the tournament fresh off their win at MESA Nomadic Masters Spring.

BIG, BetBoom, and FURIA are also on the team list, and all three teams will aim to break a period of lackluster results in recent times and end their season on a high in Abu Dhabi.

Participating teams and format

Twelve teams will compete for the $400,000 prize pool at YaLLa Compass 2024. The event will begin with two best-of-one round-robin groups. The top three teams from each group will then advance to the single-elimination playoffs, with the group winners skipping the first round of the bracket.

It can be viewed as a Tier 1.5 event as most of the teams are Top 30 caliber with a few high profile names.

Nowadays? Just look at these examples from the past with only one top-10 team and 8 teams in total: hltv.org/events/3427/dreamhack-open-summ.. hltv.org/events/3428/dreamhack-open-vale.. hltv.org/events/3425/dreamhack-open-tour.. hltv.org/events/4828/v4-future-sports-fe.. We also had MVPs for events with a total of 4 teams and one top-10 team: hltv.org/events/4370/eleague-csgo-invita..

The last one is absolutely amazing. Play 2 games to get MVP. donk won 3 matches with spirit to get mvp - that's absolutely ridiculous

Honestly, of course I understand how it works. There were good teams in general although I really don't like the number of them (feels like 8 kinda little amount) and that fact that it was a bookie tournament.

Yeah, but there are 8-team events like Blast World Finals that almost in its entirety consist of top10 teams. Its not about the number of teams but rather about how much an event is stacked. Bookie tournament doesn't necessarily mean that it's scripted or whatever, every team still try their best to compete since the prize pool is usually big enough for it to be worth effort. So the competitive spirit is still there. Most "scripted", 322 or cheat-legal events are less relevant than Betboom Dacha which was not quite tier-1 event, although big enough to have the respect for community.

Events need to have at least 3 top 10 teams to grant hltv MVP, which Yalla does.

Still a lot of moving pieces as teams look to make a final push for Cologne, Pro League as well as secure a spot in the RMRs instead of Closed Qualifiers and close out the season on a high note. BO1 format in groups brings me back to old times, better times even. Looking forward to the event, BIG's assignment is pretty simple: Don't finish last. Upside for us is probably the Quarterfinals as the better teams take over in this tournament later on.

I just don't know if BIG can replicate the wins from Dallas, we're playing a lot of our kryptonite teams like BetBoom in our group and more of them wait on the other side like Astralis.

Astralis locks their spot directly to Cologne, skipping the play-in, if they make the grand finals. Complexity gets to snag the spot instead if they win the event (and Astralis do not make the finals), or if they get 2nd and Astralis finishes in joint last place.
