Media: nitr0 set to return to Counter-Strike

Captain America plans to return to the game once again.

Nick "⁠nitr0⁠" Cannella has announced his intentions to return to Counter-Strike after a short stint in M80's VALORANT squad, according to a report by Dust2.us.

"VALORANT was not what I expected it to be, and I didn't see a future for myself. CS is home, and with the lack of IGLs in NA, this is where I belong. I still have a lot to offer to NA CS and can't wait to give CS2 everything I have," nitr0 said in a statement to Dust2.us.

nitr0 made his name in Liquid after joining in 2015 and became a franchise player for the organization. He remained a constant presence in the team across several different roles ranging from entry rifler to in-game leading AWPer and helped Liquid top the world rankings in the first half of 2019.

After he appeared at eight Majors and lifted nine LAN trophies with Liquid, nitr0 departed the organization in August of 2020 before he spent 16 months plying his trade for 100 Thieves in VALORANT.

He rejoined Liquid's Counter-Strike team at the beginning of 2022 and helped them achieve a No. 3 spot in the World Ranking, thanks in part to the addition of Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis. However, in May, nitr0 left Counter-Strike for a second time due to an overwhelming travel schedule, which appeared to conclude his nearly eight-year career in the game.

His second departure was not his last, though, as the 28-year-old has now set his sights on returning to the scene once again.
