HENU and ENCE Academy part ways
Just one member from the original ENCE Academy now remains as the junior roster undergoes its fourth change in six months.
Henri "HENU" Ylilehto and ENCE Academy have agreed to part ways once the 21-year-old's contract expires at the end of June, the organization has announced.
In a heartfelt statement, the team's coach, George "Whitey" White, thanked the teammate of two years for their time together and explained that HENU outgrew the project.
"The Academy Program set out to push our players into the next steps of their careers, so I know deep down I can't be with them forever, but it still hurts when you build such a good bond with the players," ENCE academy coach Whitey said.
"I feel HENU has surpassed the ENCE Academy program, and I think he can really start to take off elsewhere with more senior players surrounding him."
HENU was one of the original members of the all-Finnish junior team ENCE signed in July 2022, which remained unchanged until early 2024, an unheard-of stability among academy teams.
But since January ENCE Academy have now undergone their fourth change. Youssef "juissi" Adam and Veeti "S1rva" Sirva were the first out of the door, while Paavo "podi" Heiskanen first enjoyed a brief stint on loan with Sprout before he was promoted to ENCE's main team in late May. Only Ville "myltsi" Vilkman now remains from the original five.
Two new members are to be announced "in the near future," the organization's announcement says.
