The Australian star returns to activity after nearly ten months away from action.

jks takes over the anchor role from skullz

Liquid have announced that they have secured the services of Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage. The former 100 Thieves and G2 member is the final piece of the puzzle for the international team after it removed Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller, Felipe "⁠skullz⁠" Medeiros and head coach Wilton "⁠zews⁠" Prado in a major off-season rebuild.

jks has been out of action since November, when he was removed from G2's starting lineup to make way for Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković. He was released from his contract in April, ending an 18-month spell with the organization, during which he won the 2022 BLAST Premier World Final and the 2023 editions of IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne.

"It's been a while, but I'm happy to be back and excited to be a part of this team," jks wrote on X. "Thank you, Liquid, for the opportunity."

A two-time HLTV Top 20 Player, jks is Liquid's second signing during this off-season, following the arrival of Polish AWPer Roland "⁠ultimate⁠" Tomkowiak. The Dutch organization has also named Torbjørn "⁠mithR⁠" Nyborg the team's new head coach.

With these two signings, Liquid have two players from both Europe and North America and one from Asia-Pacific. This means that the team will have the option to qualify for the Shanghai Major from either Europe or the Americas as the roster doesn't have an automatically assigned region.

Liquid's new roster will debut in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, scheduled for July 29-August 4. The tournament will take place in Copenhagen and feature the 16 teams partnered with BLAST.

Here's the timeline in case you guys forgot. 1) When jks won 2 Katowice people praised him (deserved) 2) It caused a lot of haters to spawn out of thin air because they hate when the player is praised for a good performance 3) Which caused the rest of the community to defend jks against those haters whose heads were occupied by Justin "jks" Savage, who refused to pay the rent.

I don't remember the jks hate after he won kato. People even wanted him on FaZe and the community was happy when he joined G2. I even remember HLTV going crazy when huNter was awarded the kato MVP instead of jks, who deserved it imo. Most of the jks hate was happening while he played for coL. Your timeline is a bit scuffed. He wasn't hated any more then any average player.

the hate he received was always more towards the ppl talking about him being good (some fanboys and some normal ppl) sometimes the hate was towards him to trigger those and this was always after jks being jailed by complexity and after g2 benching him, so im with u about not remembering the hate after 2kato and i bet this was the hate Lebroski was trying to talk about(he is maybe confused) but yeah jks is more glazed than hated

Twistz igl is the worst thing that should not happen especially because him and naf were carrying the team. You lose 20% of the mechanical and raw talent of twistzz if he igl's to see a 10% improvement from yekindar is terrible. Atleast i hope they actually get an igl after this wannabe igl spell.

I meant that as an analogy but you cant deny the fact that twistzz will tank his game igling and yekindar getting 5 extra kills than his average kills with the cadian roster isnt going to give this team anything. Ultimate is also the biggest gamble that they have forced themselves to lean on. He has to deliver from day one otherwise its no different than rainwaker and patsi move. I want to love liquid because i genuinely love twistzz but this is bad.

I think Twistzzz has been shadowing Karrigan and basically preparing himself to go to IGL. There's an interview with HLTV confirmed where he mentions he has envisioned being the IGL while Karrigan coaches. (youtube.com/shorts/G0TA1qRqYXo) JKS and Twistzzz have prior chemistry under Karrigan and if Twistzzz models his style after Karrigan then it may be an easy fit. NAF and Yeki will obviously fall in line to support Twistzzz vision as they are prior teammates and the chemistry is already there. That leaves the only remaining piece of ultimate. Apparently Tier-2 orgs are actually pretty good? I don't know because I never watch any of the T2 stuff. But I think finding an AWP will not be as difficult once they establish their playstyle. I think they wont be successful right away, but I can imagine JKS stays meaning they'd only have to look for a better AWPer later. I TOO WANT TO BE A LIQUID FAN. They've just let me down too many times.

Weird roster. Looks way worse on paper than the previous one. Twistzz as IGL, ultimate and yekindar are big question marks for this roster

Previous roster was solid on paper (at least for dominating NA) but it ended with a disaster. This one is mid at best on paper, however, if ultimate will somehow start shooting and Twistzz' calls will be good I think they might make deep runs. Time will show

Cadian (and most other top IGLs for that matter) does not work well in a chaotic/intuitive/individualistic environment it seems. I reckon that Russel will try to re-create some aspects of Faze in Liquid now, with their far more loose and adaptive, less execute-heavy style. But yeah, replacing both the coach and the IGL at the same time is a bit of a gamble that's for sure.

I don't know who will be the IGL but YEKINDAR proved to be a disaster, tiwtzz for me doesn't have the intelligence and mental agility that an igl needs, you need his ability to frag to the max just like NAF, I don't see a well structured team even in roles.

I remember a time when twistzz was great in liquid. then the org said ... yo ... you suck now. you need to go. then he moved to faze and got a grand slam .... again + a major to boot. now he returned to a team which is the same liquid as before and expectations are that he will be good .... as an IGL? wtf !?! this team will fail again and again and twistzz would have lost some of his best months with a team that wants results NOW and not in like .... 1 year or so. liquid with cadian started to improve (apart from yekindar) and now they rebuild. keep rebuilding and then keep signing previous players. stupid org. they let go of elige too. maybe if they bring him back, they might win something.
