Kjaerbye played nine HLTV-recorded maps prior to his benching

JiJieHao has moved Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye to the bench, sources with knowledge of the matter told HLTV, bringing to an end to the Dane's short stint on the starting roster.

HLTV knows that Kjaerbye is taking some time off to deal with personal issues. Last month, he revealed that he had lost his sister to cancer just days before the Esports World Cup.

No official replacement has been announced, but JiJieHao have registered Viktor "⁠Duplicate⁠" Mitev as their fifth for the upcoming Arabia RMR open qualifier for Perfect World Shanghai Major.

Kjaerbye joined JiJieHao officially in late June having been without a team for nearly two years, last turning out for Endpoint in September 2022. He did however feature for the squad in the Esports World Cup MENA closed qualifier in April.

The Dane's only HLTV-recorded LAN appearance for JiJieHao came at Esports World Cup itself, where the team exited after a BO1 loss to Sashi. Kjaerbye struggled in the aforementioned game, garnering a 0.63 rating as he posted seven frags across 21 rounds.

Was he ever even good? People used to talk about his “shaky spray” as if he was pioneering some new technique but in reality he just couldn’t spray properly and shook his mouse side to side in hopes that enough bullets would land. He was never gonna last in the t1 scene.

if you listen to his interview with Freya, he's not a guy who actually knows how he became a major MVP, he just felt like he wanted to grind and it happened. If you listen to all his answers there I think it's easy to get a sense that he's a guy who was in the right place at the right time doing the right thing, he's not a grinder or a guy with a good work ethic. He doesn't have a sustainable model to develop his skillset, just kinda roaming around and seeing what happens. He just seems completely unaware of his surroundings and what's required of him. I respect the MVP performance, it's one for the history. But I was disappointed to "meet him" in that interview. With his mindset it's all that can happen, one very high peak and then a ghost.

Yeah I understand that, it's just hard to watch a legend that deserved to fly to higher heights basically just crash and burn. It's happened to so many at this point. Especially with Kjaerbye when he really should've went to better places, won more, achieved more but he just didn't. So many bad things has become of the guy and I'm genuinely sorry for him because he deserves more for what he's put into CS. But realistically he didn't put much into his comebacks and wrote a check in his name that he can't cash. He needs to become a talent or something, not a player at this point. Because while getting paid to play CS and doing what you love is great. Kjaerbye is essentially wasting those serious orgs time when he makes u-turn decisions on whether he even wants to play. I'm not trashing the player. I like Kjaerbye and loved him at his height. I'm more so mourning the guys legacy. Same with s1mple when he eventually withers away. Especially with all the things that's happened to him recently. My comment wasn't in a hateful tone. I'm really sad for him in general and he deserves more. But in reality, he quit CS twice deciding he didn't want to play. His legacy earned his way onto tier 3/2 teams after 2 year breaks and both times he performed subpar. Playing for fun is one thing, playing for teams cashing in on a name and then ultimately not putting forth anything is another. I hope he finds his way into some sort of talent gig.

Before anyone write some shits about him, just clarify on thing. He lost his sister, which is a really huge loss, and im sorry for him. Even if he wasted his career - maybe - he won a major, he contented tier one events, was MVP and made a lot of money what most of us only can dream about. Apart from this situation with his sister, I am pretty sure there is a logical explanation why he got kicked. Guy didn’t play on any team since 2022 while obviously not being the worst player, many t3 and some t2 teams could’ve signed him if HE wanted to play the game. And the fact that he signed up for one of the shadiest orgs for only one EWC event with huge prize pool and easy possibility to qualify for main event (through Middle-East Qual) says a lot about his attitude to the competitive CS in overall. Dunno if it was planned initially to kick him after EWC or this decision was made later (due to his sister’s situation or some other stuff, idk) but I am pretty sure he would’ve been kicked (rather leave team on his own, I suppose) after failing to qualify for major. History haven’t yet seen a decent player playing for JijeHao, it is always some rejects from Europe that try to find an easy way. P.S. : Don’t see any reason to respect the dude and trying to understand him. Yes he lost his sister and I sympathize with him for that. However it has nothing to do with him fucking up whole career lol. In that case I regret that a guy like him won a major and many other players that kept trying again and again failed in the end.

They also can criticize you then. “Not in his prime anymore”. Kid stopped being in his prime in 18-19 years after some time after major. History of cs:go and cs2 has rarely (if ever) seen a case when a player fucked up his career like that. From being the youngest MVP player to such a bad player in a blink of an eye. Very few managed to do reach that height and fall so hard. Either he lost motivation and interest after winning major or thought that he is a god a player and can do anything, idk and idc, as far as there are no serious family issues or smthing involved in that, he is a trash that wasted his career. Astralis without him went on to build their own era by easily replacing this dude while he just stole few paychecks in North and became irrelevant. In his place many other players could’ve the major (not saying that any player, but many), he wasn’t someone extremely valuable and irreplaceable. For me it looks obvious that there are lots of players that deserved major win more and did way more for that. And would’ve stopped after that like this guy did :) If you find this toxic, you have no fucking idea what a sport is. No one will remember (or will remember as a trash) some dude that won the biggest tournament in sport and then just disappeared. People remember players that dedicate themselves fully to the sport regardless of the situation and what they have achieved so far. They didn’t stop like this kid did in his 18 or whenever was that. That’s why some players become icons and some players become jokes like Kjaerbye. If you just want to justify him, you can find any excuse you want and cry about my post being toxic. They get smashed every single time in Asia RMR by Tyloo, FlyQuest, Mongolz maybe they should have chance if they put 1 whole year of hard work in it instead of making a new team 1 month before the qual

mybe because asia cs scene is dead worst than na. no jokes. right now only mongolia and israel that have decent talent in asia but almost of these players play in europe and not asia. its quite easy for some decent eu players mix with some asian player exploit the systems to qualifiy to major due lack of talents and good t1 team in asia compared to europe which is more difficult for them to qualify
