AMKAL snap nine-match losing streak against NIP in Fall Showdown

The Ninjas have been eliminated after another messy match against the struggling Russians.

NIP are out of the Showdown after one match

Ninjas in Pyjamas have been sent packing from the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown after a 2-1 loss to AMKAL in the Round of 16. The result is all the more striking given that the Russian team played with its head coach and was coming off a nine-match losing streak, during which it had lost to two academy squads, including NIP's Young Ninjas.

AMKAL, who turned to Svyatoslav "⁠svyat⁠" Dovbakh after benching Daniil "⁠Sdaim⁠" Tupov earlier this month, will move on to face OG in the next round of the tournament. OG pulled off their own upset on Wednesday as they beat HEROIC in just two maps.

It was a rematch of the messy Copenhagen Major RMR Overpass game, which AMKAL won after three overtimes. Tonight's match was just as chaotic (but with two more maps), and casters Mohan "⁠launders⁠" Govindasamy and Conner "⁠Scrawny⁠" Girvan couldn't help but burst out laughing at the succession of comedic moments.

After losing back-to-back games in the RMR closed qualifier, AMKAL came out looking revitalized and cruised to a 13-3 victory on their map pick of Inferno. Ninjas in Pyjamas responded by winning Ancient by the same scoreline, with Fredrik "⁠REZ⁠" Sterner putting in a 2.05 rating.

The Swedish player came up clutch in the decider map of Vertigo in a 1v3 situation as his team was facing series point in overtime. Ninjas in Pyjamas still equalised the score, only to collapse in the next set of extra rounds.

In their defense the coach was fairly high rated on faceit in csgo.

Svyat also played at the Berlin major with DreamEaters back in CS:GO as well. He's not a slouch by any stretch and is probably more than used to the pressure.

I'll give the malding gamblers this one. this one was fixed for sure. NIP would be the favorites in this match any way but then the upset team is on a 9 MATCH LOSING STREAK? it's too obvious. matchfixing in tier 2. sad.

the only moment that needs to be "recreatable" is when there's a match point. no other rounds matter, hence the players on both sides are throwing. EDIT: or to be even more specific, when there's a match point for the WRONG team. when the team that's supposed to win has match point not even those rounds matter. win or lose, the outcome doesn't change.

If it was any other team, I would understand your concerns, but it’s NiP, this is what they have been doing for the last 5 years (being underwhelming, losing to lesser opponents etc)
