SAW, Cloud9, SINNERS and Sangal qualify for Europe RMRs

SINNERS surprised with their imperious run, whilst Cloud9 laboured but got the job done.

SAW followed up on their IEM Cologne run with a confident showing in the RMR closed qualifier

The European closed qualifiers for the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMRs played out the first qualification matches today, with four teams sealing RMR berths.

SAW and Cloud9, two names many expected to see at the RMRs, made it out of closed qualifier A, whilst Sangal and SINNERS secured their spots through qualifier B, with the Czech side surprising with their form.

Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný put up absolutely stellar numbers across four maps to ensure SINNERS breezed through the qualifier in commanding fashion, such that the Czech squad racked up a 52-13 aggregate round score against solid tier-two opposition.

Sangal, the other team to make it out of qualifier B, had a tougher time. The team has been in excellent form in tier-two in recent months, winning the last two CCT Season 2 Europe events, but needed overtime to get the win over BC.Game and were run very close by BLEED in both maps of their qualification series.

Ultimately, the strong showings of Samet "⁠jottAAA⁠" Köklü were enough to get Sangal over the line in the close maps.

In qualifier A, SAW confidently secured their RMR berth with minimal fuss, backing up their Cologne run by showing they were a cut above their closed qualifier opposition.

Permitta pushed SAW close on Nuke in their qualification bout, but other than that, Rafael "⁠arrozdoce⁠" Wing, João "⁠story⁠" Vieira and Michel "⁠ewjerkz⁠" Pinto had no problem blowing away every opponent in their path.

Cloud9 had perhaps the shakiest run of all, benefitting from a kind draw against a Johnny Speeds side playing with a stand-in before being run close by Passion UA.

Things were toughest of all for Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov's men in the qualification match against 9 Pandas. Despite playing with a brand-new addition in Evgeny "⁠r3salt⁠" Frolov, 9 Pandas pushed Cloud9 all the way on Inferno before spanking them 13-1 on Anubis, setting up a decider.

Cloud9 once again managed to eke out a narrow win on the decider, ensuring an RMR berth after some hard-fought matches. The resurgent form of Sergey "⁠Ax1Le⁠" Rykhtorov will be a promising sign for Cloud9, their star rifler a key component of the victory over 9 Pandas.
