Complexity and Falcons to clash in Showdown quarter-finals

Virtus.pro also got an opening victory and are waiting for the winner of BIG vs. GamerLegion.

The second day of the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown has ended, with three more teams making their way through the single-elimination bracket and three going home.

Normality somewhat returned as the favorites prevailed in all three series on day two. OG knocked out HEROIC on the first day of play right before AMKAL beat Ninjas in Pyjamas in a wild series.

Virtus.pro took out Zero Tenacity in two maps to kick off the day's action. The first was a fought-out Anubis, Z10's pick, which went down to the last round of regulation.

On their home turf of Dust2 Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali and company were in command, turning a 7-5 T-side lead into a comfortable 13-8 victory.

This victory puts VP in the quarter-finals, where they will face the winner of the BIG vs. GamerLegion series.

Complexity and Falcons are set to face each other in the quarter-finals after their opening victories. The match is set for Saturday at 15:30

Complexity recorded theirs against Metizport, with star player Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski putting in a fantastic performance to earn a 1.80 rating in the 2-0 series. The North American has a 1.27 in the last month, just above his three (1.25) and six (1.23) month averages.

A quick 13-2 on Metizport's Ancient pick could have made for a quick 2-0, but it got twisted for Complexity on Vertigo as they needed an overtime to break the tie after 24 rounds. It was smooth sailing, though, as they won it 4-0 to end 16-12.

Falcons also needed overtime on their map pick against M80. After stealing Ancient 13-9, Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer and company had to dig deep to tie it up after facing two map points on Dust2.

In the end, they pulled it off in extra rounds as Spanish AWPer Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García topped the board with a 1.47 rating.

Friday will mark the end of the Showdown's first round as BIG will face GamerLegion and Cloud9 will go up against paiN. The first quarter-final match will then be played to close out the day: OG vs. AMKAL
