RED Canids, Fluxo, Legacy facing elimination after first day of Americas RMR qualifiers

Eight teams are already out of Shanghai Major contention across the two Americas qualifiers.

The first day of closed qualifiers for the Americas RMR has reached its end with eight teams eliminated across North and South America.

The brutal format of the qualifiers, which use a Swiss system to determine four out of 16 teams who advance, means that teams are eliminated after just two losses rather than three. Two teams advance from the 3-0 pool and two from the 3-1 pool, with a fourth-place decider played between the 3-1 teams with the lower Bucholz scores for the final spot.

This resulted in some early strife for the three highest-ranked teams in the South America qualifier — ODDIK, RED Canids, and Fluxo — as they were narrowly upset in their opening best-of-one games and cast down to the 0-1 pool.

All three stabilized in series play, with Fluxo bagging a convincing 2-0, ODDIK winning two one-sided maps in a reverse-sweep, and Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David's side coming closest to an early exit and only barely scraping past Intense 2-1.

Two qualification matches and four elimination matches will take place on day two of the SA qualifier, with the matchups looking as follows:

The first two rounds of the NA qualifier played out much as expected, although NRG faced some early trouble from Akimbo in a 13-10 win before easing past Elevate to make the 2-0 pool.

BOSS was awarded a forfeit win in their opening round after a player from Take Flyte was stuck in traffic and couldn't arrive in time for the match, and converted that into a 2-0 record after edging past Gabriel "⁠NEKIZ⁠" Schenato's Legacy OCE 13-10 on Anubis, casting the Brazilian team down to the 1-1 elimination pool.
