Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMRRare Atom, TALON lock in Asia RMR spots
TYLOO will miss out on their home Major after falling to Rare Atom in the China closed qualifier.
Rare Atom and TALON have locked in spots at the Perfect World Shanghai Major Asia RMR after advancing through the China and Oceania closed qualifiers, respectively.
The pair join The MongolZ, FlyQuest, and Lynn Vision, who were directly invited to the RMR based on their Valve ranking, on the team list, with the final three spots awarded to the winners of the East Asia, Asia, and Middle East qualifiers.
TYLOO acquired the core trio of Rare Atom near the end of 2023 and were favorites in the matchup, but were upset 2-1 at the end of the qualifier despite beating Rare Atom in the upper bracket final.

Andrew "kaze" Khong, YuLun "Summer" Cai, and HaoWen "somebody" Xu, three former TYLOO members now playing for Rare Atom, got the better of their old organization in the reverse-sweep victory, losing Mirage (5-13) but running away with dominant scores on Inferno (13-7) and Anubis (13-6) to lock in an RMR berth.
Aaron "AZR" Ward's TALON emerged atop the Oceania qualifier in a hard-fought battle over Rooster in the grand final, making a stride toward the Australian in-game leader's short-term goal of making the Major with his new team.
Both teams made it to the upper bracket final without too much difficulty, with Rooster beating TALON 13-5 to make the qualifying game and TALON recovering with a 2-0 sweep past Mindfreak to set up the rematch.
TALON got off to a poor start in the grand final, initially going down 1-8 on their pick of Vertigo and then losing the pistol in the second half for a 4-10 scoreline. A phenomenal recovery on the T side, powered by Corey "nettik" Browne and Miłosz "mhL" Knasiak, allowed TALON to pull the game back and scrape victory, however, edging out the win 13-11.
The opposite scenario unfolded on Mirage as TALON's stalwart defense helped them post an 8-4 lead, only for Rooster to win eight in a row after the side swap and close out their pick not long after. Another dominant CT showing on the Anubis decider gave TALON a 9-3 lead, and this time they didn't let it slip too far, closing 13-7 to lock in an RMR berth.
