Sweden's No.2-ranked team has begun the search for a new player.

Hugo "⁠chawzyyy⁠" Günther is no longer part of Johnny Speeds' roster, the Swedish side revealed on Thursday. The announcement comes just days after the team went 1-3 in the Europe RMR Closed Qualifier B, a tournament chawzyyy missed due to personal reasons.

With Sebastian "⁠dex⁠" Samuelsson acting as a stand-in, Johnny Speeds beat Zero Tenacity and lost to Cloud9, ARCRED and Rebels, falling short of their goal to qualify for the event in Shanghai.

"We are looking for a fifth player and who it will be is uncertain at the time," the Swedish team wrote on X. "The goal is still the same, to be Sweden's leading team and establish ourselves at the top of the world."

Formerly of Galaxy Racer and Apeks, chawzyyy was one of the original members of Johnny Speeds, who have been gradually climbing the rankings in 2024.

He helped the Swedish team to win three domestic titles: MAX Skills Tournament 2024, SubZero E-games 2024 and, more recently, the Svenska Elitserien Spring 2024 Finals, held as part of DreamHack Summer.

On X, chawzyyy did not explain his absence from the all-important RMR qualifier, simply stating that "things didn't turn out the way I had hoped."

He added: "I am now looking for a new team as AWP and IGL."

This is the second roster change for Johnny Speeds since the lineup came together, in February. In early July, the team picked up Jonatan "⁠bobeksde⁠" Persson to replace Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson, who was signed by BC.Game.

With chawzyyy's departure, the Swedish team is now:

Wouldn't call him onliner but lets be real here, CS isn't as big in Sweden as it used to be. People see international contracts and we get nowhere near that here. You can make very good money both here and internationally with a good education. Arguably if you travel more you will make more but you can chill at home for enough money to do what you want. Understandably some players don't feel like going on a gamble trying to make it big in CS in a region where the game is kinda dying.
