Valve ranking and formula implemented on HLTV

A live-updated beta version of Valve Regional Standings can now be viewed on HLTV's ranking page.

Since it was introduced in 2022, Valve's team ranking has mainly been used in Major cycles to determine invites and seeding in the qualifying process and the Majors themselves.

However, from 2025 it will serve a much larger purpose, as the vast majority of invites to ranked competitions will have to come from the Valve Regional Standings following Valve's decision to clamp down on franchises.

Valve unveils rulebook for hosting licensed events from 2025

In preparation for the shift, HLTV's ranking page has been updated to display the Valve Regional Standings alongside HLTV's own team ranking.

Instead of copying Valve's periodic updates from their GitHub page, HLTV has implemented the ranking's public formula to show the most current information on the teams' standings, updated live with every match result.

The standings are also stored for historical purposes on a daily basis. You can see the August 30 standings here: Global, Europe, Americas, Asia.

A few disclaimers:

— As HLTV's standings are updated live, they will not be accurate if Valve changes the formula. The algorithm will be updated and the standings retrospectively fixed as soon as possible if that happens.

— Due to rounding errors, there may be cases where teams' standings differ by one point between Valve's and HLTV's versions.

— This is a beta version still in testing. Please report any bugs on the relevant forum.
