M80 pile on to Complexity's misery with victory in EPL opener
EliGE's side are cast down early to the lower bracket.

M80 have sent Complexity careening down to Group C's lower bracket at ESL Pro League Season 20 after a brutal 2-0 victory, storming to a win on Ancient (13-6) before taking their time to close out an eight-round lead on Anubis (13-10).

Complexity arrived in Malta looking to lift their spirits after a dismal early elimination from BLAST Fall Showdown in mid-August, which was the latest in a string of downtrodden results for the team since the tournament break.

Repeated early exits from events and the inability of players to consistently step up around Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski has led to a miserable start to Complexity's Fall season, which they likely thought would start differently after they won ESL Challenger Jonkoping heading into the break.
M80 rocked Complexity's boat at the start of the season at Esports World Cup, eliminating them with a 16-14 victory in the Last Chance Stage, and with more time to bed in Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa's replacement, Mason "Lake" Sanderson, have all but capsized the ship after a statement victory in their opening game in Malta.
The 19-year-old rifler was extremely vocal during the series, shouting out to Complexity alongside the rest of his teammates as M80 repeatedly bullied their opponents, including a taunt where he said, "Your team is so dead, holy shit!"
Clip: Lake tries getting into Complexity's heads by calling them a dead team
Lake emphasized that it was all words in a segment after the match and that he had no idea about the state of Complexity's roster, but that he was doing his best to get in their heads.
"It's just shit talk, I just hope people can hear it from the other side," Lake said on broadcast after the victory. "It's just a mental game at the end of the day, when you're playing that close, one little thing can get in your mind and tilt you. That's really all I'm trying to do, lift the boys [M80] and put them [Complexity] down."
Whether it was his words, sloppy play from Complexity, excellence from M80, or a combo of all three, it worked. M80 romped to victory on their Ancient pick, sweeping the CT side for a dominant 13-6 win, and continued laying the pain down on Anubis with a brutal nine-round run on the T side before putting to bed a comeback effort that simply came too late for Complexity.

Virtus.pro's opening match in Malta went largely as expected as they brutalized RED Canids on Dust2 and Vertigo, while Imperial reverse-swept BIG to add to the German team's own woes since the addition of Rigon "rigoN" Gashi.
