The Russian rifler has been released after spending 15 months with VP.

mir was benched in favor of electroNic in June

Nikolay "⁠mir⁠" Bityukov has been released by Virtus.pro after spending three months on the Russo-Armenian organization's bench.

"My time at Virtus.pro has been very productive," mir told VP's official website. "We played in major tournaments, won several trophies, and always strived for further development. I will always fondly remember this period of my career."

The 28-year-old, who rose to prominence with Vega Squadron in 2016, rarely sparkled individually for VP but the squad has declined since his benching in favor of Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov in June.

With Virtus.pro, he was champion of ESL Challenger Atlanta 2023 in addition to a few online cups, and was cruelly denied a first-ever Major playoff appearance after Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali's infamous game crash on Inferno versus G2.

The free agent is now cleared to explore his options free of any buyout obligations.

in the past years he has spent a lot of time benched/without a team, it's a shame because at his peak he was a top3 rifler from russian speaking countries, I imagine he will spend a lot of time without a team, unless C9 decide to pick him up.

yeah...not sure why, maybe it's something else but skill wise I think he's so good, at least he used to be crazy good and even when he was in vp he looked good skill wise, but just didn't fit at all vp style and it really clear.

Well I'm sad about mir, but it's probably retirement or Tier3 grinding from the bottom again... Sad really, but let's be honest, he was really bad at the end of his time in VP, I know people talk about this move -mir +electronic like it's the worst because their results went really bad, but mir wasn't a good player, it was an understandable move, who knows maybe mir has the will to grind it back up again, would be cool, but I can't really see that happening. Anyway, GL bro!

mir at spirit was a absolute demon at times. He just needs a better system and a better role and he will play his form that we know him from. No freaking player fits in VP og Jame's shitty system. Can't even tell who's the star on VP when seeing them play, its just so inconsistently bad and sad at the same time watching electronic's fall too. VP are like FURIA & NiP, just career ruining orgs
