Lucaozy replaces brnz4n on MIBR

After two previous attempts to sign the 1.21-rated rifler failed, MIBR have got their man.

The 22-year-old was first linked with MIBR at the end of 2022

Lucas "Lucaozy" Neves has completed his move to MIBR and will take Breno "brnz4n" Poletto's place on the starting five, confirming a September 4 Dust2.com.br report.

Fluxo, meanwhile, have drafted in Guilherme "piriajr" Barbosa as Lucaozy's replacement.

Lucaozy was first linked with MIBR at the end of 2022 before a second approach, with an offer of $280,000, also failed in May 2024.

Nearly two years later, MIBR pushed the signing over the line and were quick to poke fun at the difficulty behind the signing: "Forget about the buyout, I'm at the end of my contract," Lucaozy joked in the announcement video. "The values are totally different. Let's be happy again, just like when I carried [MIBR coach nak] in DETONA."

drop on seeing Lucaozy report: "I woke up and was like 'BIT, nak, what the f**k is this'"

The move may have been a long time coming but reports of Lucaozy's arrival still surprised MIBR IGL André "drop" Abreu.

"I won't lie, I don't know anything," drop said during MIBR's underdog run to ESL Pro League's semi-finals. "I just woke up and there was 'MIBR are talking with Lucaozy,' and I was like 'BIT, nak, what the fuck is this.'"

The challenge for MIBR and their new IGL — drop only took over the captaincy from Raphael "exit" Lacerda in August — will now be to integrate the considerable firepower of Lucaozy without upsetting the structure that has put MIBR above FURIA as the second highest-ranked Brazilian team.

Added difficulty comes from the fact that Lucaozy shares nearly all of his T-side spacetaking Fluxo roles with Felipe "insani" Yuji, although the CT fit is better should drop return to his old anchor roles.

MIBR are in action later today in a best-of-two against Imperial, before attention turns to the November Shanghai Americas RMR.

Because Lucaozy is better than brnz4n and can be integrated well role-wise within the team. brnz4n had an excellent last dance with the team, considering how far they went at EPL, but, still, it was notorious that he was underperforming and as clear as day that he was the weak link of the team. Considering MIBR's momentum and the high they've just achieved, maybe now it's as opportune of a moment to make this change as any, if they manage to carry this momentum and hype through to this slightly revamped line-up

Well, if I may, I'm not sure if you're aware of this but most if not all of the major Brazilian teams are also on Bluesky right now. So you can try to follow those moves from there.

I think mainly saffee and exit, but not necessarily 100% either way, since exit came from a role swap (so he's still getting used) and I don't believe there's anything that isn't a sidegrade from saffee himself in SA at the moment, at least from my limited exposure by watching them on international events the thing is that saffee isn't a superstar AWPer (usually, either way), and exit's firepower might not be enough. they might need a move like -exit +noway or some prospect from SA FPL or whatever you play down there. someone who, you know, clicks heads, hard. and in saffee's case, give him a red bull sponsorship or something. I believe that if he steps up individually, even 20% or so, it should be enough. this team could eventually win on rifling firepower alone, but it depends on what route they decide to take. possibly drop too, though in his case I wouldn't be able to even give a coherent idea on who to take instead. so I limited it to a scope where the idea doesn't sound ridiculous/outlandish.

I read all of this and it literally sounds like you're saying, "cut them all, just keep insani." I know that's not what you're saying, I just thought it was funny. I agree with your assessments for the record.

No way drop is actually doing fine as IGL now. Exit has performed better, its just Saffee is a bit inconsistent. He had a killer couple games but if he was like that all the time it'd be easy tournament contention.

You made reasonable points, specially considering you're not from SA. I tend to disagree, though. exit's really good on his native, passive lurker roles. He can be truly spectacular given enough time and space for him to perform. At least I believe so. And saffee's not the flashiest awper, but he's a safe pair of hands (huh) when it comes to wielding the big green. He's consistent and has the occasional superstar showing. And drop has just showed incredible potential from his first tournament as IGL. I'm all for giving him a chance of becoming a respected leader. I think modern CS has cemented the idea that the team synergy and role-minded approach can yield elite results. Just look at NAVI! No real incredible superstar, just incredibly good, tactical-minded and role-counscious teamplay. I'm hoping MIBR's pursuing this approach atm. If anything, BIT's the best candidate of being the Brazilian version of b1ad3, and forms a hell of a duo with nak's exultant energy.

To add on drop as igl: I feel like mibr as an org has a "correct" way of managing. Hire good staff, give structure and make them play the meta. I'd say drop should be a good pick as he was forged in this very system. No internet drama, no balling out and being flashy during games. Just do what you're suposed to the best of your abilites.

Still doesn't make sense that an org is going forward with trying to get a player and the players themselves are the last ones to know. I feel like this is a must have conversation with the team before anything else.

Maybe maybe not. I see your point, but that's not how it goes down mostly. McDonalds management wouldn't discuss with their staff if they wanted to replace a cashier who's not keeping up with the demmand. I know this is an esports team and not a fast food chain but it still goes.

Stats-wise it should work out well, but the way that this has been handled, going behind players' backs and everything.... Idk. I really hope it works out, but I think this should serve as a lesson to the managers at mibr on how to NOT handle a player change.

Definitely an improvement over brnz4n who has been absolute ass, now its a matter of him actually delivering against top international oposition (or being the 20th overhyped brazillian player dropping 1.3+ for local titles but 1.05 against tier 3 NA)

Yeh, but brn4n hasn't been delivering lately. Late changes was IGL that now is drop and exit got his old roles back and both had improvements, good run for the team. + brnz4n was the weak link and Lucaozy has always been in MIBRs radar.
