concode see off UNiTED to win TG

concode won the 2010 edition of The Gathering with a 2-0 success over UNiTED.

The two teams had previously met during the group stages, with neither side able to get over the other as the match ended 15-15, but this time around a trophy was at stake and the Swedish mix imposed themselves.

On de_train, concode got off to a great start, winning the first half 10-5 while playing as CT. Some sloppy play from the Russian-based team in the second half allowed their opponents to comfortably secure a 16-7 win.

The map that followed, de_tuscan, was a much closer affair, with the match going into overtime after two 10-5 halves. In OT, the Swedes were just too good for UNiTED to handle as they ran out 19-15 winners to win The Gathering.

Broken tag

The Gathering 2010 Final Standings:

1. Sweden concode - €6,100 + DreamHack Summer Wildcard
2.
Russia UNiTED - €2,445
3.
Sweden H2k Gaming - €1,220

I was rooting for them too, just never expected them to win. with this competition (frag executors, united, playzone.fi, all great teams) I never thought a mix team could win the whole event

if Na'Vi keep playing at their previous level, they will probably have much more important tournaments to attend and prepare for...

I was so sure that UNiTED were going to take this tourney since they are a real team and practiced alot together.. but man, this wasn't the first time a Swedish mix won a tournament. Shows how scary the country is.

I only saw the second half of the game they knowcked out fx... but he was pretty horrible something like 2-10 while the rest of the team were all in double digits. Did he just have the one bad half and step it up for the final? :)

I can say that it's better to play against a real team than to play a mix, you can't pretend where they are going to go, what they are going to do etc, 5skilled players, they deserve this win because they played very well all long the tournament, gratz.
