Vitality knock Liquid out in last-place

Liquid have now lost their last six best-of-three series.

flameZ was back to his best in map two and three after a torrid October

Vitality have progressed to World Final's quarter-finals, consigning Liquid to a last-placed finish in the process.

Like day one against G2, Liquid started well and won map one, their pick of Anubis, comfortably but the wheels fell off on Dust2 (3-13) and Nuke (11-13) to leave Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's side winless in best-of-threes in October.

Liquid's run, of six consecutive BO3 defeats, has come against top opposition — FaZe and Vitality twice, Natus Vincere, and G2 — but Liquid will head into the Major cycle disappointed that they have not cracked what increasingly looks like a glass ceiling against top teams.

"It's just a fucking disappointment," Twistzz told James "BanKs" Banks on stream post-game. "There's no connection at all on CT Dust2, just a lot of individual plays. Maybe it's bad leadership from me but typically CT side is a team effort. It's disheartening when people are not playing for each other 100%."

On the RMR, which Liquid will prepare for with a bootcamp in Asia, Twistzz was even more frank: "Well, now we have more fucking time after getting knocked out of another event. If we can't do things right at the next one, then... it's rough. It just sucks that we can't replicate these results from practice."

Vitality, meanwhile, put yesterday's loss against Spirit behind them thanks to a much-needed Shahar "flameZ" Shushan resurgence.

The Israeli spacetaker has been a key player for the squad all year, earning four EVPs and averaging a 1.10 rating, but struggled at IEM Rio (0.94 rating) and entered Singapore with a 8-21 K-D, 0.69 rating, Mirage against Spirit.

It started poorly, with flameZ struggling on the A site on Anubis, but he entered his pre-Rio flow state on Dust2 (15-8, 1.63 rating) and Nuke (22-19, 1.35 rating).

The spotlight has been on Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak in Liquid after he suffered a drop-off of his own. The Polish AWPer, with his ultra-aggressive sniping style, seemed a revelation during his debut events in tier one.

But as teams have collected data on his favorite moves, he has struggled to adapt and ends the event with a 0.79 rating. His one highlight, a flash of the fast sniping he made his brief trademark, only came in a triple kill where he had missed two straightforward shots seconds before.

Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, too, could not recover any semblance of form in the series.

ultimate on skepticism: "They have to admit they were wrong"

With Keith "NAF" Markovic displaying his usual dominance on the T side of Anubis, however, Liquid did convert their map pick with ease.

Any confidence was then swiftly washed away as flameZ smashed through Liquid's defenses on Dust2. Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was quiet, ending 7-7, but it didn't matter: Vitality's rifle core, so quiet yesterday, was back. Even stand-in Audric "JACKZ" Jug chipped in with a 1v2.

Nuke was then a summary of Liquid's T side struggles in recent months, where they average a 42.2% win rate against top 20 opposition.

They mustered just four rounds all T side, the pistol round (a 3v5), the anti-eco (a 4v5), and a surprise Upper pop. In the defaults, they were routinely eliminated by a high-flying flameZ with ZywOo back to his best.

In the second half, ZywOo clutched up 1v3 despite starting the round full-eco with zero armor to put Vitality 11-6 up, inches away from securing playoffs.

Justin "jks" Savage fired up a chance for a comeback with a sweet triple in Secret and Liquid brought it all the way to 11-12 — only for an unlikely hero in the form of JACKZ to make a double entry triple-kill in round 24 for the map and the series.

As long as the team you are leading is successful, your individual rating hardly matters

So you can be an absolute bum as long as your team wins? You can take star/rotator positions and drop 0.94 rating while also hunting eco frags like a madman? Forgive me i don't have the link for the post, but there's been a statistic posted of players who eco-hunt the most, and apex was at the very top. I won't even being to talk about all the rounds he's thrown because of his stupid playstyle. When was the last time vitality looked better than their opponents tactically? And do you call "success" having 1 event in 2024 with the caliber of players vitality have? You could slot in a random faceit lvl10 instead of apex and they'd still win 1 event a year with the players they have. No that's not "success" for a team that desires to be #1 in the world.

Vita is top 3 atm, just a couple of points behind G2, so I dont think that you can question their success. Can they get a more fragging IGL who is gonna have better stats? Sure thing. Will this be reflected by the improvement of overall team's results? That's super risky. It would be useless to replace apex with an IGL with better stats if the team itself would suffer results-wise, and Vita knows it. And trying to make fun of an IGL celebrating a win? That ridiculous mate

Where did i say anything about fragging igl? Why i dislike apex as a player is because he does not provide anything that any other igl can't while coming with a downside of taking position he has no business taking and boosting his rating with said positons and eco hunting to not drop 0.50 every game all the while screeching and tilting and screaming which i would assume would tilt any sane person in his team. Oh and don't forget about throwing rounds too. Who would want to look at a (teammate) guy in lan who loses 1st round of a bo5 and starts slapping desk and shouting and making faces at you? Oh and for your last sentence, i take apex as somebody who goes 0/13 to win a game and types "gg ez" in allchat.

Let's say, hypothetically, Liquid fails to reach major playoffs and Yeki gets benched - which team realistically he can join? Personally, i dont see which international team from 20 ranking will benefit from his addition. It's not like he is THAT bad, but i dont see where he can go, g2 in place of niko or falcons sounds unrealistic to me. NIP? And pls dont write Mcdonalds, Burger king, Papa Johns type of comments, they are not funny.

I honestly don’t know bro … I think he will be relegated to tier2 tbh maybe OG or GamerLegion sadly edit - I don’t think NIP would take a chance on him but surely an NIP-type team (like the above) would edit - Cloud9 maybe? he speaks Russian

Please anything but OG. Yeah speaks russian but the only man that can he replace is interz and i refuse to see him playing anchor spots or bitch roles. I just can imagine him jumping car on mirage for one mintue, he would for sure push b aps early and face 4 men there.

fair - but it’s also clear he can’t play entry anymore so surely he’ll need to adjust to a new role and/or play style to secure a spot somewhere

hmm... i dont think OG and GL will want Yeki, none of their players are worse than him and him coming in would change up their entire dynamic which they are already developing. C9 could benefit from kicking interz but not for Yeki, yeki fallen so far on my personal list that i think interz might be better than yeki in terms of attitude and personality. i could see yeki replacing altekz on a team but altekz already got kicked from TSM. personally dont know too much about t2 scene. yeki might need to go t2.5 actually

Yekindar needs to go. He has to be the worst EF in a top team in CS2. No idea what it is but he is a shell of his former self. Also ultimate is struggling hard against top opposition. Will see if he can get some more time to gain T1 experience.
