NEKIZ: "saadzin doesn't feel the pressure"

Legacy have taken down the FURIA and their least experienced player led much of the way to the double-OT victory.

NEKIZ is proud of his teammates for starting the RMR on the right foot

Legacy came into the RMR as one of the outsiders for a Major spot and were given a very tough matchup against FURIA in the first round.

Despite coming into the match as underdogs, however, they repeated the feat from the Copenhagen Major RMR to once again prevail in overtime and win their opening match against Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and company.

After the win, Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato spoke to HLTV about their record against FURIA and their practice in North America, and heaped praise on Guilherme "saadzin" Pacheco's debut RMR performance.

You beat FURIA to start off your RMR. How does it feel to take down such a name in the first round?

It's very good for confidence, for sure, and starting a tournament with a win is always good. We have a good matchup against them, every time we play it's always good, so we felt confident. I'm not saying that they are bad or something like that, but the match is good for us, just like that. I feel very confident right now for the rest of the tournament, and I feel proud of the boys as well.

You said you threw a few rounds and there were a lot of overtime rounds and high-pressure situations against such an experienced team. Does that make the win mean even more?

It's the first tournament of one of the guys as well, saadzin, and sometimes the pressure in these tournaments is a little bit higher. In those situations, like 2v2s and 3v3s, or even situations where we are at an advantage, sometimes it's hard playing with inexperienced players. But at the end of the day, saadzin played very well. I'm not saying that he felt the pressure but the opposite, he played very well in this game. I'm actually so proud of the guys.

We heard you even here during the game, you got very loud. How important was it for you to get a good start? It's a long road to the Major still, but a start like this has to be a big positive?

Yes, it's very positive. The thing is that in this tournament, while winning the first game in every tournament that you are going to play [is good], it means [more] to beat the higher seed team, FURIA. This is going to be very good for us as long as the tournament goes on. It was very good winning this first game, and even winning against the highest seed of the tournament.

More on a general note, you guys are playing in North America. How is that for you guys?

It's hard. I'm actually used to it, as I've been playing in the US since I was 19 or 20. So I'm used to that, but right now it's a little bit difficult when you see Wildcard or M80 going out to tournaments, and then the practice is not that good. But it is what it is.

We choose to play here, and I don't have bad things to say about the region itself, because as I said, I've been playing there for a long time. It was very good for my career to play there. But now, when teams like Complexity are always outside, Liquid are always outside, it's hard to practice, but it is what it is.

Have you ever discussed going back to Brazil, to South America?

Not really. Right now, we are planning to stay in the US for a long time. Maybe in the next few seasons things are going to change, teams might stay for more time in the US. I'm not sure, but we're not planning to go to Brazil.

You said it's saadzin's first RMR, and it will be his first Major if you get there. How much can you and the other three help him with your experience from Copenhagen?

He's a different kind of person. He doesn't feel the pressure as a brand-new player. I don't feel like he's feeling pressure during tournaments, even in his first practice against a good team, he was like, 'Okay, I'm going to smash them.' The first tournament, which was Katowice, which we played before going here, he was like, 'Okay, let's crush them.'

He's always hyped, and I think this is helping him to not feel the pressure. I don't have too much to add [to help us] qualify for the Major. It's just about everybody doing what they're doing, and being careful with the small details, and then we're going to the Major for sure.
