Valve sets start of March as deadline for 2027 and 2028 Major proposals
Valve has sent out a request for tournament organizers to bid on the 2027 and 2028 Majors.

HLTV has received information about an email sent by Valve to tournament organizers about bids for the 2027 and 2028 Majors. Two Majors per year are set to be played, as has been the case since 2016, except in 2023, when the circuit transitioned to CS2.
The email states that the game developer is open to proposals until March 1 and that the final decision will be made by June 1.
The dates for the 2027 and 2028 Majors will be:
2027
May 31 - June 20
November 22 - December 12
2028
May 29 - June 18
November 20 - December 10
In the latest email, Valve states that the Major organizer will be responsible for any regional qualifying events leading up to it, such as MRQs and open qualifiers in applicable regions, which must be completed no less than two, but ideally three weeks prior to the Major.
The news comes after Valve issued a warning to tournament organizers over missed deadlines, stating that they would "have to explore penalties" if missing information regarding 2025 events was not "addressed immediately."

The developer added the following points to take into consideration when submitting a Major bid:
"You are welcome to submit proposals for more than one Major; it is possible that we may select a single tournament organizer for more than one of the Majors in 2027/2028."
"We typically prioritize events that take place in regions where a TO has previously held successful events. Additionally, it is helpful to identify backup venues in case travel restrictions or other complications make the original location inaccessible."
"As with previous Major Championships, our primary goal is to identify an event that will provide the greatest entertainment value to existing CS2 customers, so please be specific when describing services or features of your event."
"Note that in general we do not weigh heavily any features that are untested, new, or in-development. If you are proposing novel features for your event, consider providing additional detail explaining how those features will be developed and tested, and what alternatives you'll consider if they cannot be executed as planned."
"The vast majority of spectators for your event will be viewing games through streams. Your proposal should include a distribution plan including the expected streaming platforms, languages available, schedule, etc."
"The event should be time zone convenient for a significant proportion of CS2 customers (the game has two prime-times, one at 16:00 CET and one at 21:00 CET)."
