Dominant T sides give Spirit win over HEROIC

Spirit have defeated HEROIC in the first BLAST Bounty S1 quarter-final with a 2-0 scoreline (Anubis 13-11, Nuke 13-3).

"We were struggling with the communication on LAN. We know why it happened, and we will fix it," Danil "⁠donk⁠" Kryshkovets said after the victory while admitting he had some tilting issues on Nuke, where he finished on the bottom of the scoreboard for his team.

Both teams came into the match without their full rosters. HEROIC were without Andrey "⁠tN1R⁠" Tatarinovich, who missed out due to visa issues, while Sergey "⁠hally⁠" Shavaev's health issues meant that Spirit were without their coach standing behind them.

The series began on Anubis, where Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García's 14 kills willed HEROIC to a 9-3 lead at the half. That wasn't enough for a victory, however, as Spirit brought it back to take an unconvincing 13-11 win.

"I feel like Spirit got a little lucky. I don't know if they could do it again," Alex "⁠Mauisnake⁠" Ellenberg said on the desk.

Spirit's pick of Nuke was an entirely different story. The Russian squad put together a 9-3 T half and was flawless on the CT side, taking a comfortable 13-3 win to cruise into the final four.

SunPayus, who was far and away the best HEROIC member with a 1.24 rating in the series, also gave his thoughts about the match in a post-match interview.

"We were playing well, but we weren't expecting them to play as fast on Anubis. There were so many 2v2s and 1v1s, if we won one duel it would be a difference maker. But I'm really happy, enjoying the game, and happy to be here."
