Endpoint put CS division on pause

The British organization has cited "changes in the CS landscape" as the reason for the decision.

NertZ got his breakthrough in Endpoint

Endpoint has announced the temporary pause of its Counter-Strike division due to "the landscape of CS changing dramatically" alongside the lack of recent results.

The organization's statement also says that the VRS-based event invites create a "much smaller and internal ecosystem."

"Combining this with a lack of funding in the UK esports scene, unfortunately means that the costs incurred compared to revenue (or potential of) become too great a risk for the wider company."

Endpoint ended the statement by saying that they are not closing the door on Counter-Strike, as they will continue to support the domestic grassroots scene and are open to signing a new team in the future.

Endpoint entered CS in 2016 and proved to be a hotbed for developing talent that went on to star in tier-one tournaments.

The likes of Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas, and Guy "NertZ" Iluz all got their breakthrough in the UK-based organization, with Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko and Henrich "sl3nd" Hevesi also doing so in more recent history.

The following players are now available for transfer with no buyout:

United Kingdom Kia "Surreal" Man
United Kingdom Oscar "AZUWU" Bell
United Kingdom Max "MiGHTYMAX" Heath
Netherlands Joey "CRUC1AL" Steusel
Poland Jan "cej0t" Dyl

Losing in the Open Qualis of Rising probably did them in for good. That's a rip to UK CS, ITB went up in smokes bc Slay's a moron and Verdant kicked their lineup recently too.

Decisions like this surely don't come about because of one qualifier result. The entire VRS system currently just makes it untenable for lower ranked team to compete. ENDPOINT is a well run org, with years of being a well run company and even they can't make it work. I hope in the future we see more tournaments run open qualifiers rather than let it be entirely based on VRS points, which is currently the easiest route for TOs.

I meant moreso that this was the final straw and that Endpoint probably saw the PGL Qualifiers and thought there was no shot they could make it work there either. The timing just felt too connected to not be directly related.

I can guarantee you it's not related. What's in the official statement plus posts from owners is sole reason.

Valve wants orgs to cease existing so they get their insane "5 players banded together win major" story (which is also now impossible with VRS)

theyre both great prospects, especially AZUWU, in star player roles he can carry an entire team. cejot still needs time in the oven, but if lets say OG or fnatic makes an academy team again, including these 2 would be a great start

Valve Ranking system needs to be scraped. Not only does it not make any sense, it's just an incredibly flawed system. It also doesn't give a chance to lower ranked team but also if any fluke wins happen, that team can be put in top 5 out of nowhere.
2025-02-04 15:19

Honestly all they need to do is not make unranked pointless. All they need to do is turn unranked into tier 3 where you can farm there and get enough points to get lower to mid invites to tier 2 events. I can count two events where a vrs unranked teams won a tournament but they get nothing out of it (except money) not even a rank in vrs.

Endpoint let their team get to a point where they could no longer qualify for events. Keeping CRUC1AL & Surreal in 2025 indicated they weren't serious about competing anyways. A shame, but c'est la vie.

VRS system is flawed allowing female teams to attend instead of decent Tier2 teams and giving them the chance to eventually enter Tier1 if they are good enough. Not surprised it is effecting Tier2 organisation I’m sure more will follow Endpoint with similar decisions.
