Complexity's first win of the season eliminates Imperial Valkyries

Imperial Valkyries managed only seven rounds across the series as they were outclassed by Complexity.

Complexity secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Imperial Valkyries to keep their PGL Cluj-Napoca campaign alive and eliminate the female team from the competition, as well earn as their first win of 2025.

Imperial Valkyries enjoyed a promising start on Ancient but faded as the map wore on, whilst Nick "nicx" Lee instead ramped up round upon round, securing 138 ADR and a 2.10 rating by the end of play.

nicx's strong form continued onto Train where he was joined at the top of the scoreboard by Michael "Grim" Wince and Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli, and the trio ran rampant to ensure Complexity enjoyed a comfortable victory to end the series.

Complexity enjoy first win of the year

Complexity have shown flashes of promise over 2025, but that promise had yet to manifest itself into even a single map win. Drawing Imperial Valkyries was a fantastic chance for the NA side to break their duck and build some confidence, and they did so with ease.

New addition nicx was in fantastic form, a positive sign for Complexity, but it must be said Imperial Valkyries offered little resistance after the first half of Ancient.

Johnny "JT" Theodosiou previously told HLTV how his team didn't "have time to keep losing" with VRS points and thus tournament invites on the line, and so this victory will be a welcome boon for the team. It remains to be seen if they can find victories against stiffer opposition.

JT: "There are encouraging moments, but we don't have time to keep losing"

Imperial Valkyries exit with a whimper

Imperial Valkyries have now played six series in tier-one events thus far this year, and have yet to win a single map. They made Natus Vincere sweat on Ancient and took FURIA to overtime on Mirage in previous events, but failed to break the five-round mark in any map Romania.

Today the female squad found themselves outclassed by Complexity, as they have throughout the event. There were a few signs of life early on Ancient, but they quickly evaporated as Complexity took control.

Regardless of results, Imperial Valkyries have earned valuable experience in their tier-one forays. They can take that experience into their upcoming ESL Impact campaign, and surely secure yet another Impact title to add to their collection.

Tough one tho. If any .fe team wants to do anything relevant, it is really not about attending T1/T2 events. They should (like pretty much any male players) play their CCTs and similar competitions first and earn these spots. They would actually have decent chance to win some maps, this is waste of time. Everyone knows this. It is not about "we can't practice vs T1 teams", that is delusion.

Not really their fault tho, blame Valve for not realizing and fixing the fe points system problems before, they just accepted the invites they received

they dodged T2 invites to keep T1 invites coming VRS might be trash rn but they're as individuals willingly abusing its flaws. No respect

Thats one big assumption, there could be a number of motives to justify those withdraws, and even if that was the main reason, is it really that problematic to try making the most of this opportunity? In this couple of months they have probably been making more money and having more visibilty than they had in their entire career so far besides being able to practice/play against tier 1/2 teams and have the experience of playing in big events... Who wouldn't want to make the most of it?

Tbf can't blame them for that. For all they know this is their only chance to play tier 1. On top of a lot more recognition just by attending the events and still more money than 5-8th CCT. It's a new territory and they were supposed to prove that women CS can compete. Clearly they failed as they if anything got worse with more practice.

Please put some respect on Col name, Jason Lake clearly built a title contender team. imperialFE managed to win more rounds in a single map against both navi and furia than in this entire series.

it's not that deep bro calm down, my man was just saying that imperial fe is not a worthy enough opponent to count them as a victory taking into consideration that complexity is tier 2 male team.

really embarrassing for both teams. imp fe, best womens team in the world, can't beat 4 na fpl tier players and hallzerk!? compLexity, a former consistent top 15 team in the world, wins its first map of the year after 2 months against a womens team!? you really gotta wonder. i love imp fe and i am overjoyed they're getting this chance to compete but it's clear that they should be getting invites to tier 2 and tier 3 events until they've proven they can keep up.

All the imperial clown fans shocked. Yea the team abused the system and ffd against teams beneath them so when they got to a big event they don’t lose as much. It won’t last for long though.
2025-02-16 21:42

This team is an affront to CS. There are kids busting their balls off in T3 to be able to make it to this level and these players are only picked by their sexual organs. If they want to play with the big players, they should work their way up like all the blokes do.
2025-02-16 22:20

Surely we need to blame valve for introducing such system. But fk those mf'in simps who were saying this was a deserved spot. A t3 male team grinding through open quals would've done 10 times better than this
