PGL Bucharest closed qualifiers delayed

The delay is to allow PGL to "refine the invitation process" to "better comply with the Tournament Operations Requirements."

PGL has announced that the European, North American and South American closed qualifiers for PGL Bucharest 2025 have been delayed, with an update to be announced on March 4.

The tournament organizer states the reason is to allow them to refine the invitation process "to ensure consistency and fairness for all teams" and "to better comply with the Tournament Operations Requirements."

"We’re deeply sorry for the trouble," PGL's statement read. "We’ll make sure to do better in the future and avoid mistakes like this again."

The closed qualifiers for both Europe and South America were due to start February 28, with the North America and Asia qualifiers scheduled to start March 4 and 6 respectively.

The announced delay affects a significant number of teams, as 32 were set to participate in the Europe and North America qualifiers and 31 in South America.

Respect them pls, they are one of the few TO's not selling their souls to Saudis they also pay the teams and staff instantly (see pimp tweet) or sometimes even while the event is still going on (see rl video) these guys are also struggling with ESL monopoly, making behind the scene contracts with top teams that are now declining PGL hosted Events so they have less viewership. Lets not clown them and lets try to support them ._.

also, they are delaying TO MAKE SURE THEY FOLLOW THE RULES instead of some other TOs that didnt follow rules, lost VRS ranked status, and killed all the participating teams' progress. So honestly big thumbs up

I don't think they can do that even if they wanted to.

The current system is so blurry and nobody knows anything about how it's applied.. We never know. I heard some stuff, even admins give different answers to the same question sometimes. That's wouldn't be the first drama about VRS fucking up teams. Big, Gamerlegion.. Etc.

The invites for PGL Bucharest will use 3rd Feb VRS ranking. The top 12 teams will get direct invites then four teams will come from the regional qualifiers. They can't change that.

They did, but many teams like B8, nexus, and imperial FE in EU refused the invite for some reason.

The only wrong invite I can see is ESC. But for that you need to look at the log kogutos roster and matches. They have 2 players that are eligible, Amsalem played 9 games with them up to Feb 3rd, so he is not part of the core at the time of invites if they want to use him as sub, I'm not mistaken, the other 2 players were changed. That's why there's new ranking at 200 and whatever for them. And it also possibly means their closed qualifiers invite for CCT was wrong, the one where they beat NiP. But that begs the question why with the same roster with Amsalem as stand-in they were ranked as #70 at CCT 19 CQ and were unranked at CCT 20 CQ.
