Rare Atom qualify for PGL Bucharest after Asian Masters lower bracket run

The Chinese team survived three elimination series before the final against the tournament's surprise package.

Rare Atom will attend PGL Bucharest next month

Rare Atom won the 2025 edition of the MESA Asian Masters by sweeping HOTU 3-0 in the grand final of the event, held at the MESA studio in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

With this win, the Chinese squad has locked up a spot at PGL Bucharest, the $1.25 million studio tournament that will be held between April 5-13. They join a stacked team list that includes the likes of G2, FaZe and Eternal Fire.

Rare Atom entered the Asian Masters as the clear favorites, especially after the surprise disqualification of ATOX, the highest-ranked Asian VRS team in attendance. But they dropped down to the lower bracket in the second round following a 1-2 loss to Chinggis Warriors in a series dominated by Mongolian AWPer Unudelger "controlez" Baasanjargal

YuLun "Summer" Cai's troops went on to beat Eruption, JiJieHao and Chinggis Warriors in the lower bracket, setting up a grand final clash with HOTU, who had come in as a last-minute replacement for TALON.

The Russian side was able to make the first two maps competitive thanks to great displays from Daniil "Re1GN" Chekanin, but they fell flat on the third map of the final, Anubis, where Junhao "ChildKing" Peng and HaoWen "somebody" Xu combined for 43 frags in a 13-4 thrashing.

they now 20 points behind fly quest for second china slot at the major, and the only way to gain those points is valve to change they stupid rule that matches doesn't count until tournament is over and rare atom will have enough points from their ecl wins

if they would've won their game against gl, I'm pretty sure it would be enough, but they throw too much

However, according to the predictive model calculations done by a Bilibili content creator, FlyQuest's prize points from ECL Atlanta are about to enter a decay period. If this decay occurs before the closed qualifiers, the actual prize calculation would drop from $30,000 to under $20,000. In that case, even if TYLOO were eliminated 0-3, FlyQuest's ranking would still fall below the cutoff.

Yep, that was probably my biggest problem with HLTV coverage last year. We just had to had Mantra and Arcade matches of ECL Oce. We also had this hltv.org/events/8119/extremesland-2024-o.. Guess what region's qualifiers we didn't had covered? Almost every other. Not even chinese with CatEvil, Tyloo, RA and LVG.

That was the bribe incident happened in 2018, which two editors found submitting tournaments with matchfixing, caused almost all Asian online tournament, expect big tournament qualifiers and extremesland, being neglected by HLTV.
