FURIA send MIBR home from EPL

FalleN's troops need two more wins to make the playoffs.

FURIA won the domestic derby against MIBR in the 0-2 pool of ESL Pro League S21 Stage 2 with a 2-1 scoreline (Anubis 13-9, Mirage 17-19, Inferno 13-1) to eliminate Felipe "⁠insani⁠" Yuji and company from the tournament.

The game was a rematch of their earlier bout in EPL's Stage 1, where MIBR ran out 2-0 winners. As in their previous match, Raphael "⁠exit⁠" Lacerda's troops picked Anubis but couldn't secure the victory after FURIA's red-hot 8-1 start to the T side.

While MIBR fought back from behind and eventually made the scoreline close, that came down more to FURIA struggling to close out the match rather than a spirited comeback attempt.

MIBR answered well on Mirage, however, winning both pistol rounds en route to a 19-17 overtime win to tie up the series thanks to a 1.43-rated performance by insani.

FURIA then ran rampant on the Inferno decider and put together a dominant 11-1 T-side, which gave them a straightforward path into the 1-2 pool in Stockholm.

FURIA still fighting for domestic supremacy

The combination of Kaike "⁠KSCERATO⁠" Cerato, Yuri "⁠yuurih⁠" Santos, and Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo should, in theory, be enough to be the best Brazilian team, but FURIA's results are not blowing their domestic competition out of the water.

While a victory against MIBR should keep FalleN's troops in the top three of the Americas VRS ranking for now, the game was far from straightforward.

paiN, who are also in Monday's 1-2 pool, should remain ahead of them and keep the status of Brazil's best team for now, unless KSCERATO and company can rally and put together an unlikely comeback from the 0-2 pool.
