YaLLa moves Compass Qatar from LAN to online

YaLLa have taken the decision to move their event from LAN to online "in response to unexpected scheduling constraints."

YaLLa have moved their event online as a result of the dates clashing with the MRQs

YaLLa has announced that the YaLLa Compass Qatar 2025 event has been changed from a LAN to online event, set to be played on European servers.

In their announcement YaLLa said the move was approved by Valve, and that the event would remain ranked and feature a $300,000 prize pool, down from the original $600,000.

"This decision was made after extensive efforts to preserve the original LAN format and navigate the increasingly congested international tournament calendar," YaLLa's statement read.

"With multiple events now overlapping in close proximity, the pressure on teams and operations made a full-scale offline execution no longer viable without compromising the quality or fairness of the competition."

YaLLa Compass Qatar's main issue was that it clashed with the MRQs for BLAST.tv Austin Major, meaning a vast number of teams set to attend the event would likely have withdrawn in order to remain in their regions and attempt to qualify for the Major. Astralis, BetBoom, Complexity, Nemiga, ENCE and 9 Pandas, literally half of the Compass Qatar team list, are set to compete in the MRQs.

Whether or not this move to an online competition will preserve the YaLLa Compass Qatar team list is unclear, although YaLLa have said that "match timings are also being reviewed to minimize overlap with other tournaments, including the MRQ, in order to support player availability."

As the tournament is set to take place on European servers, and the North American MRQ will take place on NA servers, it is also unclear whether Complexity will still participate in the YaLLa event.

Totally udnerstand Niko request at this point in his career and age. Only business class travel. I would have done the exact same thing and included that clause in the contract. Only business class travel

totally. The team knows that if you want your players to be best prepared to compete they should arrived refreshed, well-rested, happy. If your team is competing in a $1.25m tournament ensure your players are not flying back of the ryanair plane, arriving jet-lagged, pissed, and tired.

Lose from Valve , They ruled for other TO's for announcing tournaments 1 year prior to including dates and event place but they announce MRQs on Feb i guess, so this happens. This tier 2 teams don't have enough chances to play on LAN. MRQs is online also. Bad for Valve perspective.

surely teams will still drop out? I wouldn't expect them to play the MRQ and this tournament at the same time, why would you risk the major for this tournament?

What exactly are you risking? If there is a conflict you just forfeit and play the MRQ match. $300k ranked tourney is not peanuts, teams need that sweet sweet vrs

yeah but the players will be tired, idk, if I was a manager of a team I'd drop out, 100% focus on the major

How will you grind vrs for the next season? By getting invites to events. How you gonna get invited to the events of the next season? By getting vrs now. It's a snowball effect, the more vrs you have the more you can get. If the others play and you don't, you will fall behind.

if they get into the major they're already guaranteed to compete in a few more events down the stretch this year... and if they dont, theyre basically guaranteed to play some to be able to rack up VRS pts during the major and around it...

Yeah, that’s how organisations think. We’ll definitely get vrs points and events bro.. let’s bet our financial future on it. Think like a business. Guaranteed chance at big vrs points, or no?

first starladder cancel s19 because of the major, then skyesports cancel their event (who cars lol), then blast rivals is moved from mexico to studio in copenhagen and now qatar is moved from qatar to online. Oh boy a lot is going wrong this season with the TOs.

Complexity will have to drop out either way because I don't really see them competing from the US
