Astralis to face OG in EU MRQ Round 1

The Danish giants face a tricky opening clash in the Major-qualifying tournament.

Relog Media has released the complete schedule for the Europe Regional Qualifier for the Austin Major. Slated for April 14-17, the tournament will have six Stage 1 spots on the line.

The MRQ will feature five Swiss rounds plus two tiebreakers (which will determine the sixth-placed side). The first two rounds will be played in a best-of-one format, after which the tournament will switch to best-of-three series.

Astralis, who missed out on a Stage 2 invite by fewer than 30 VRS points, will take on OG in the first round. Led by 18-year-old IGL Christoffer "⁠Chr1zN⁠" Storgaard, OG soared in the rankings last month after winning CCT Season 2 Europe Series 20, and recently formed a Danish core after signing Nico "⁠nicoodoz⁠" Tamjidi.

fnatic, who will be playing the qualifier with Johannes "⁠b0RUP⁠" Borup as a stand-in, will go up against BC.Game, while SAW will lock horns with BetBoom. Other standout matches for this opening round include HEROIC vs PARIVISION, and GamerLegion vs Nemiga.
