GamerLegion, PARIVISION in trouble after Europe MRQ day one

The two squads are joined by 500 and B8 in the 0-2 pool.

The first day of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Europe Regional Qualifier came to an end with BetBoom and GamerLegion suffering losses in the final matches of the second round.

The latter's struggles have been especially surprising, as Ashley "ash" Battye's men came into the tournament as one of the favorites to cruise to the Major. That was far from what happened, however, as they lost their opener against Nemiga (7-13 on Mirage) before suffering defeat against fnatic.

While no team has been eliminated or secured their spot at the Major, the standings are beginning to take shape after today's matches.

HEROIC and Metizport sit pretty in the 2-0 pool and now move to play best-of-three matches for qualification.

Joining them in the 2-0 bracket are OG, who defeated Astralis and 9 Pandas, and Nemiga, who breezed past GamerLegion and BetBoom.

The 1-1 pool, which will be played in a best-of-one format, features the likes of BIG and Astralis, who recovered from their round-one losses to steer clear of the danger zone.

GamerLegion and PARIVISION are among the teams set to fight in the elimination 0-2 pool. The latter were given a tough draw and lost to HEROIC and Astralis to stare down the barrel of elimination, with B8 and 500 the other two teams in immediate trouble.

Tuesday's matches look as follows:

Honestly, I don't know why they don't do something like 2 bo3. If you lose 2 bo3, you don't deserve to go to the majors anyway. It would take roughly the same amount of time.

The worst scenario is u losing one bo3 and two bo1, most other case u lose at least two bo3, they would've lost anyway

but the difference is you lose 1 bo1 mr12 online, the 0-1 or 1-1 match-ups are filled with "good teams" who would probably win in a bo3.

generally, people overrate bo3, league of legend where match can end in 20 minutes on the biggest tournament in esports- Worlds, playing the same swiss with bo1s as on the major, and I don't see many people complaining

I don't mind bo1 for seeding purpose, but I feel the best format would like 1 bo1 for "seeding" then two bo3.

it would increase major time by 3-5 days and those matches don't really interesting that much anyways and as I said with bo1 there is not a lot of upsets as people would think, they just listen to what talent says and repeat, the same story was with pistol, they would cry about it for year or so, and recently stop a bit, and all the time statistic said and the difference between pistol in mr12 and m13 did not increase a lot

update for you: OG is 3-0 currently with stage 1 of the major secured. Nemiga, Metiz in the 2-1 bracket. i dont think it is the format problem. if you manage to lose 2 bo1 in same day on different maps vs worse teams on paper while not even making it competitive, you dont deserve to play in the biggest event of the season.

Having it be full bo3 would've added like 1 or 2 days. It's the qualifier for the biggest tournament of the season, no team would mind spending a little longer playing it out. Just beyond stupid by Valve.

It's not about watching the qualifiers. I rather watch a major with the actual best teams present instead of some random radar team getting pummeled out of the tournament while a promising dark horse team is forced to watch from home.

Who do people always mald about the same stuff every single year? If you can't beat a team in a best of you one you don't deserve a spot, simple as. You need to play your best against all teams

Why tho, if you can't win one or two bo1s then you don't deserve to be at the major.
2025-04-15 09:05

Because we want the best teams at the major and BO1 increases the randomness of the outcome, we would like the most accurate outcome regarding to skill of the teams, which BO3 provides. If the team deserved to win in a BO1, they will deserve to win in a BO3 aswell.
2025-04-15 09:07

Oh, so you want the same 32 teams? Why not just make it invitational at this point then. The "randomness" you talk about can be fought against if top teams actually prepped the best way they can. CS2 these days it's not about who has the best aim or movement, its about being able to read the opponent and have good strats/counter strats.
