Kévin "⁠misutaaa⁠" Rabier has taken to X to announce that the French mix-team Mercenaires, which included the likes of Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt and Thomas "⁠Djoko⁠" Pavoni, is no more.

The 22-year-old stated that "the Mercenaires project is coming to a premature end due to the departure of some players," such as Aurélien "⁠afro⁠" Drapier, who recently signed with Monte alongside countryman Ali "⁠hAdji⁠" Haïnouss.

Early on Mercenaires missed out on making the PGL Bucharest Closed Qualifier after finishing the open qualifier in 5-8th place, and then they showed a hint of promise by making it through to the PGL Astana Open Qualifier in mid-March, but were promptly eliminated in two matches by NOVAQ and Partizan.

Their final match together was an 0-2 loss to Nexus in Fragster Challenger Series Season 1 on April 5, where they played with Nabil "⁠Nivera⁠" Benrlitom in lieu of Paul "⁠PerX⁠" von Erdmannsdorff just days before afro's departure.

I respect the individuals, but this mix was bound to disband the moment it formed, given the current VRS tournaments situation

in post-VRS world, unfortuantely teams like this cannot find any footing. New VRS system ensures only established orgs can succeed. 5-stacks like this unfortunately cant

True Also PGL stepping away from open qualifiers takes even another opportunity away from these teams, although it was a long way for one spot only. Now teams can play untangled tournaments wich gives you money and some spotlight, but no VRS. You can go to a local lan with Ranked status for VRS, but you don’t have them everywhere and traveling costs you money, which is hard without an org. So moral of the story, Valve made their own closed system to replace the old closed/franchise system, well played

Why not just add Nivera?

He's being tested with GenOne, logical that he favors a paid and stable project rather than Mercenaires
