After a winless run in their PGL Bucharest debut, the new Liquid took down Virtus.pro in a rematch at IEM Melbourne.
Liquid have advanced in the opening round of the Group A upper bracket with a closely-fought 2-1 win over Virtus.pro (Dust2 13-8, Mirage 8-13, Ancient 13-10).
The team around Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek is set to play a Vitality side riding on a 17-match winning streak for a place in the playoffs at the Australian event, on Tuesday at 10:45 .

The opening round victory is the first mark of success of the Liquid squad following the addition of siuhy. They went 0-3 in the PGL Bucharest debut shortly after the new in-game leader was brought in, which included a loss to Virtus.pro in the second round.
Liquid take revenge after Bucharest
In the rematch against Denis "electroNic" Sharipov's team two weeks later, the teams opted with the same picks, but Liquid had learned from their Dust2 mistakes with a much more competitive CT side to snatch their opponents' map away.
"We put in a lot of practice on the map, even in our prior lineup it was tricky to get wins on it. Kamil [siuhy] is good on Dust2, he knows the map pretty well, and getting more time to practice helps," Keith "NAF" Markovic said after the match.
Liquid struggled on the T side on Mirage then as Virtus.pro replied with force, and the series reached the Ancient decider. Despite an 8-4 Terrorist half going the way of Liquid, it came down to a close finish when the Russian side won the early forcebuy wars.
The game descended into chaos when Liquid finally switched up the pace and began to challenge aggressively for Middle, but it was a strategy that worked in the end as Liquid won the last three rounds in succession, the last thanks to a crucial siuhy flank and clutch.
