s1mple to make FaZe debut against Liquid at IEM Dallas

FaZe have been drawn against siuhy's troops in their Group B opener.

ESL has announced the groups and opening matchups for IEM Dallas, set to take place from May 19-25 and offer a $1 million prize pool.

All group stage matches will be played in a best-of-three format, with six playoff spots on the line. The group winners will go straight to the semi-finals, while the runners-up and third-placed sides will advance to the quarter-finals.

The two groups look as follows:

Group A

Group B

ESL Grand Slam winners Vitality have been put into Group A, with Legacy, 3DMAX, and GamerLegion on their side of the bracket.

The MongolZ, who will face the new FURIA in their opening match, have also been put into Group A, as have G2 and Lynn Vision.

Group B features an opening clash between MOUZ and BC.Game, who will be using Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy at the tournament, as well as Liquid and FaZe going head-to-head in Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev's debut for Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's squad.

Aurora will face HEROIC in their opener, with NRG and IEM Melbourne grand finalists Falcons also on their side of the bracket.

So on ... just the normal seeding there ... but it s true that getting G2 is lucky as they very much feel like a VRS20-30, while Faze in group B is the usual hidden black horse with former (washed) legend being a hype placeholder.

The groups are just unbalanced. For the sake of viewership MOUZ, Falcons, Liquid, FaZe, Aurora should be in playoffs. Not possible. MOUZ and Falcons will make it for sure, but not Liquid and FaZe at the same time and NA fans would like to see both in the arena. And there's also NRG from NA.

Watched s1mple demos, honestly he is in a good form right now, maybe a little bit rusty on some quick decision making moments, but he will collect 3 kills ezpz consistently in full buy rounds.. still have the flicky style, i would say he looks better than when he was practicing for Falcons return game. We'll see how he performs on big stage, but seems promising so far. edit: The vods are on youtube for those that want to check them out
