Vitality head to Dallas playoffs over GamerLegion

GamerLegion put up an admirable fight, but were not able to handle Vitality down the stretch.

Vitality will continue their quest for a fifth straight Big Event win after making the playoffs of IEM Dallas, doing so via a 2-0 victory (Mirage 13-9, Nuke 13-10) over GamerLegion. This was also Vitality's 27th win in a row.

GamerLegion put up an admirable fight, especially considering they are sporting a stand-in, but found themselves outclassed as the two maps wore on.

Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson and Sebastian "⁠Tauson⁠" Tauson Lindelof made big plays on the T side of Mirage to give GamerLegion five offensive rounds, before a converted CT pistol granted GamerLegion the lead. Once guns came up, however, Vitality's class told, and they won six of the next seven rounds to win the map.

GamerLegion got off to a strong start on their Nuke defense, eventually racking up an 8-4 lead, but Vitality's defense was even better, limiting GamerLegion to a mere two rounds to clinch the series.

With their victory Vitality have secured a spot in the playoffs, and will play the winner of The MongolZ vs. G2 for a direct berth to the semi-finals. GamerLegion meanwhile will continue their hunt for a playoff spot against the winner of FURIA vs. Lynn Vision.
