IEM Dallas 2025m0NESY transcends to put Falcons through to Dallas playoffs over HEROIC
The Flash was unstoppable on Dust2, tallying a 2.16 rating and several highlight clips to close out the series.
Falcons are through to the playoffs of IEM Dallas after moving past HEROIC in a three-map series, securing wins on Ancient (13-9) and Dust2 (13-3) on either side of an overtime loss on Nuke (13-16).
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov was the star of the show in his team's victory, topping the board on Ancient before transcending to an otherworldly level on the Dust2 decider to get the game over the line.
HEROIC showed a competitive face on Ancient, getting off to a great start on the T side off the back of Andrey "tN1R" Tatarinovich's multikills, but they ultimately couldn't convert the 6-3 lead into a map win as the otherwise dependable Álvaro "SunPayus" García pulled a disappearance act.
In a crucial round 10, Falcons didn't take the bait against an A fake to lock out the rest of the half, and they took the lead after winning the forcebuy wars early into the second.
Despite a shallow-looking offense, in which Falcons were seen dry-clearing areas without success, they secured the first map before it got too dangerous, in large part thanks to a 3v5 win in round 19:
m0NESY continued his tear from Ancient early into Nuke to help Falcons guarantee an advantage after the Terrorist half, and with René "TeSeS" Madsen also locking down the second pistol, the game looked like a foregone conclusion.
But HEROIC's run of six rounds on the T side put Falcons under pressure, and it was them who had to scramble to ensure overtime. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač eventually found his impact in Yard to force extra rounds, but his luck eventually ran out and HEROIC locked it down in the end off the back of back-to-back Yasin "xfl0ud" Koç rounds:
The m0NESY and TeSeS duo provided Falcons another early lead on Dust2, helping battle back against a few SunPayus multi-kills for a 4-0 start, but HEROIC wedged their foot in the door with three rounds back.
tN1R picked up the secondary AWP and shut down an early B attack, but Falcons recovered to win a back-breaking 3v5. m0NESY transcended at that point, looking nigh-unstoppable and winning a near-impossible last-second 1v2 clutch.
He bagged several mutli-kills after that, including an absurd no scope wallbang handshot to Top Middle in the final round, adding insult to injury as the game came to an end.
The seventh Falcons-MOUZ matchup of the year
Falcons still have yet to play the group's upper bracket seeding game, in which they'll face off against a familiar opponent in MOUZ, whom they've already faced a whopping six times this year.
