GUM on SU3: "We have tried a lot of talented local players but sometimes they're afraid to perform"
Time in North America has made C4LLM3SU3 a different type of player to the ones Lynn Vision are used to.

"At an international event like this, it's the first time we won the first match," Yifei "GUM" Dai said to HLTV after Lynn Vision beat Legacy on day one of the Austin Major.
The Chinese coach was happy to see his side perform to their potential, easing their way to a 13-7 win with a team performance to be proud of.

He credited a bootcamp in the United States for the win, and sees world number 30 Lynn Vision as "a better team" when it comes to the competition in Stage 1.
So far, so good, with all eyes on trying to secure as many spots as possible for the Asian region in the next Major.
You've just gone 1-0, how did that one feel from behind the players?
Exciting! We've never gone, at an international event like this, it's the first time we won the first match. It's a new experience and we are very happy about it.
What's it like, because this stage is a mix of teams, coming in as a middling seed instead of having to play top teams straight away?
Definitely, this bracket seems a lot easier than previous events we have attended. We have better confidence into this match and that helped us a lot. The thing that helped us the most is that we had bootcamp in the United States for 10 days so we can deal with the jetlag and now we are very comfortable with the time schedule of the matches.
What was the preparation like? Was there one thing you really focussed on with the team to get them ready for this?
We tried to be ourselves and focus on doing everything correct. Even if you have a lot of strategies, you can not do them properly and still lose. The main purpose was to focus on ourselves, how to execute and do not make mistakes because we believe in this stage we are actually the better team.
I wanted to ask about the regional rivalry, what's it like having two Chinese teams here?
Finally, this time we get two Chinese teams in this bracket. We hope we can both make it to next stage. I don't know the rule but hopefully if we both make it to Stage 2 we can gain two more slots for the Asian region which would be great.
How would you characterise the difference between both teams? TYLOO get a lot of attention, but are maybe seen as individualistic in playstyle, and I think — tell me if I'm wrong — I see you guys more as a strategic style when I watch the game.
It's very hard to describe. We're a team that are based on strategy but also a lot of communication. As far as my knowledge about TYLOO, their playstyle, they will play a lot of setups. They do not talk a lot during their rounds, that's the main difference. If you see their game, we look more vivid.
Jee is a good player with emotional support, and will give the other players mental support. But most of the TYLOO players tend not to speak a lot. That's the main difference.
One more question on C4LLM3SU3, is he a different type of player after being in NA for so long?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. North American players, their instinct is to YOLO, 'I will one tap you,' and I will do you, right? They like to make some highlight, to try something very risky, so that's definitely a very different point from local Chinese players. We have tried a lot of local players and they are very talented but they are afraid sometimes to perform, or do some individual stuff.
Are you going to make it to Stage 2?
I hope so. We have a good start, right? We are looking forward to meet our teams in Stage 2.
