PGL Belgrade 2025 moved to PGL studios

The tournament will no longer take place in an arena in Belgrade.

PGL has announced that PGL Belgrade 2025 will now take place in the PGL studios in Bucharest, Romania. The tournament organizer cited "unforeseen logistical challenges" as the reason for the move.

PGL Belgrade 2025 to feature no qualifiers

The news comes five months ahead of the event, which is set to go down October 25-November 2. 16 teams invited via the global VRS will now come together in Bucharest to contest the $1,250,000 prize pool.

This is not the first setback to hit PGL this year as their plans for their first tournament of 2027, originally titled PGL Krakow, were scuppered after their venue booking was cancelled by the venue. It was later revealed that ESL had swooped in to secure the venue as they moved IEM Katowice to Krakow.

PGL's CEO, Silviu Stroie, called out fellow tournament organizers earlier this year on social media, telling of "concerted efforts from multiple parties" to stop PGL running CS2 events.

I wonder if the "unforeseen logistical challenges" are actually tied to something like that - top teams indicating they won't be attending and PGL figuring out the math won't math for public in the arena. were tickets already on sale?

Could also be that since TI happens in Germany in September, PGL needs to organize a lot of stuff to return to Bucharest and then to Belgrade so they can host an arena event. TI takes a lot of planning & organizing, and in general hosting arena events is painful since they have to build the stage, test it & then well host the event & then demolish it and transport it back to storage. Either someone at PGL fucked up the logistics of the transport or just something else

High chance top teams wouldn't attend due to IEM Chengdu but this is all ESL's fault. I wish everyone would stop the speculation. PGL lost this "booking" to the ATP250 (tennis) event beginning on Sunday 2 November. atptour.com/en/tournaments/belgrade/4787.. Absolutely no "conspiracy" for ESL or BLAST to screw-over PGL, this is just failure to secure arenas properly before announcing them as confirmed. @king_dempz might want to add this context?
