TaZ bids farewell to G2: "Who knows what story life will write next?"

The Polish coach said that he is unsure of his future.

G2 have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas, who bid farewell to the players and staff he worked with in an emotional post on X.

TaZ was named head coach of G2 in December 2023, replacing Jan "Swani" Müller in the role. It was the 39-year-old's first coaching stint and it came after an illustrious playing career that included great successes, including a Major title in 2014 with Virtus.pro.

During his 18-month stint in charge of G2, TaZ led the team to three titles: IEM Dallas, BLAST Premier Final, and BLAST Premier World Final, all in 2024.

He coached his last game for G2 at the Austin Major, where the team missed out on a playoff spot after losing progression series against Natus Vincere and The MongolZ.

In his social media post, TaZ said that his future remains a mystery.

"What’s next for me? The past 18 months have helped me grow both as a coach and as a person. I’d love to stay in this world, but who knows what story life will write next?" TaZ wrote.

HEROIC bid farewell to sAw, SunPayus

TaZ's duties will be taken over by Eetu "sAw" Saha, who officially left HEROIC on Wednesday alongside Álvaro "SunPayus" García. The Spanish AWPer is also on the brink of joining G2 to take up the AWP — a role that was temporarily held by Olek "hades" Miskiewicz in the aftermath of Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov's transfer to Falcons.

how is that not just utterly fkn straight cap? like youre just lying straight up, niko wanted to leave cause he wanted the bag/big bucks millions at falcons and hunter and m0NESY wanted to leave if niko left.. with hooxi instead of snax and a competent coach instead of taz g2 wouldve done insanely better than they have been..

Without Jame PC Crash, Hooxi would have made 0/3 major playoff appearances with G2. Hooxi had his time and was kicked according to overall performance. Had nexa when he left, but didn't prove he could consistently have G2 as the best team before that (and wasn't a leader of men).

without jame pc crash he could still incredibly likely made playoffs there it just would have taken more OTs in that case also snax and noone else available was better at all either, just look what he made of astralis so quickly as well...

Framing. 6 of the trophies won since m0nesy joined Niko. "Omg stewie2k won a trophy in just a couple weeks, he must be the reason!" Don't pay attention to m0nesy solo carrying entire events. Magically the team turns T2 after he/Niko leaves, surprise.

irrelevant. Through 3 IGLs and 2 coaches the constant in all successes was niko and m0nesy, full stop. I would even add Hunter as an ingredient to that mixture. And even before the major, Falcons were literally toe-to-toe with the number 1 team. Even if their performance on Falcons mattered to G2's measurement, the data we have is conflicting at best.

I never said he was bad. He was "disappointing". He clearly wasnt the right fit for G2 and wasnt what they needed at the time. Stats speak against me? 2024 World Finals: 1.17 niko 1.35 m0nesy 1.16 malbs (with niko and m0nesy, 1.08 without) 2024 Fall Finals: 1.17 niko 1.29 m0nesy 1.10 malbs (with niko and m0nesy) Dallas: 1.32 m0nesy (literally hard carried the entire event and singlehandedly won the final) 1.18 niko 1.0 hunter Cologne 2023: 1.34 m0nesy 1.35 niko 1.21 hunter Kato 2023 the only outlier here with niko and m0nesy still putting up 1.10+ rating, hunter 1.21 and jks life tourney 2022 world final: 1.24 m0nesy 1.16 niko 1.14 hunter The stats prove that these 3 are the constant. Taz was just along for the usual ride. I never once said Taz made them worse. But he was a disappointing stint nonetheless with really nothing to show that he made an impact. The team was the same as it ever was because of 2 or 3 players. The real thing that increased win frequency? They got malbs for nexa. Malbs instantly putting up .1- 2 higher than nexa in an instant. And that performance instantly disappearing when m0nesy and niko left. Thats the bottom line.

You do realize Niko and Monesy leaving has been cleared up after the ridiculous interview with G2's CEO who blamed m0nesy for failing to recruit players... That was the worst possible thing a CEO could have said since it is the Orgs job to find potential players. m0nesy's job is to show up and play, that's what he gets paid for. Imo, after hearing the comments of the CEO for G2, it is clear he only cares about money... As believe me, the CEO was definitely not crying after a $1 mil for Nikos transfer and $2.5mil for m0nesy to join Niko w/ Falcons. There is no valid reason to hate Niko or m0nesy for leaving because it is no different than anyone else who works for a living.... I could care less about G2 as they asked for this after the whole dumb comment about "we could keep Niko if we wanted to" as I am glad Karma came around to have them assume Niko was not 1 of the 2 reasons(the other being m0nesy) on why G2 were successful. Niko is somehow monesy looks up to since he's been always helping m0nesy. You can replace coaches with statues and the outcomes of matches would not be any different.... The IGL makes the calls and I honestly have never understood what a Coach does for a CS2 team... Vitality is #1 and has been unstoppable after adding Elige in, the coaching had nothing to do with that winning streak.

Vita added Elige? You sure you had no stroke while writing this? I somehow agree that the IGL makes the calls but you know nothing about the preperation before and what taz brought to the table. I mean G2 CEO is kind of dumb but not as dumb to pay a cheerleader for 18 months. Also taz wasn't even that bad when he played as a standin. Infact he played pretty decent.

Yes because it is coaches who win Titles right? You are too stubborn to simply understand Counter Strike does not work like the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc; Vitality recently lost to Legacy and got demolished 13-3 so XTQ is a terrible Coach.... G2 won Dallas with a stand in last year and do you know why? I guess it must have been because Taz drugged m0nesy and Niko(Who both carried the entire team into winning the event as I still remember m0nesy 2.20 niko 2.15 HLTV rating w/ 100% KAST on Nuke vs Faze. hltv.org/matches/2372346/faze-vs-g2-iem-.. A coach never has anything to do with the game because they ARE NOT THE ONE WHO PLAY. You think a motivational speech during a timeout brings out miracle comebacks? CS is more about timing and if a coach calls a timeout to run a strat putting 4 on B site and 1 on A, if the enemy goes B and gets destroyed, that doesn't mean the coach did anything as he simply got lucky. However, if the enemy team decided to go A, everyone is on HLTV making threads about how terrible Taz and Snax are.... Smh

It's finally over! That was an absolute mistake for G2 to take TaZ as a coach, and no t1 orgs should sign a rookie coach to begin with.

One of the worst Tier 1 coaches this game has ever seen, constantly keeping G2 from reaching their potential by making stupid decisions, nepotism and just overall bad coaching.

Wow these comments are stupid, what a read out there. All these tiktokers with no cs2 idea who think that coaching in CS2 is equal to coaching in football or voleyball. xD Anyway Taz was medicore, however kudos for kicking out Hooxi useless IGL and kudos for winnig 3 top tier trophies. Thats still like 30% of all s-tier G2 trophies. He will easily get a T1 or T2 team to coach. Only Niko and Monesy were top players in his squads through 2023-2025, rest of these noobs will run down to T2 asap.
