Sao Paulo teams to miss ESWC Brazil?
According to mibr.com.br, Sao Paulo's top Counter-Strike teams could very well miss out on their national ESWC qualifier.
The report comes after the qualifier's organiser, Anderson "Aneurex" dos Santos, threatened to reduce the number of qualified teams in the city from four to three.
The first qualifier in the city of São Paulo was expected to attract 16 teams, but only half of that figure signed up for the competition, with FireGamers and CnB Gaming, the country's top two teams, opting to sit out of the event.
The ESWC organisation believes the short number of attendees in the first qualifier was due to the team's wish not to meet either FG or CnB, and has vowed to take one of the second qualifier's spots if the situation occurs again.
"This is unacceptable, Sao Paulo is the focus of CS in Brazil and the players did not show up," Dos Santos told myESN.com. "Claiming the LAN is far away doesn't work, claiming that FG and CnB would play is no excuse.
"They forget we do not only have the ESWC. In the next events, Sao Paulo will be massacred and I will be the villain of the story!"
FireGamers have already signed up for the second Sao Paulo qualifier, which will take place this weekend at Mega LAN, while CnB's decision is still unknown.
Should the ESWC reduce the city's number of slots, it means that either FG or CnB would have to participate in a qualifier in a different region of the country, something that has been rare.
