New-look Imperial succeed in TWC qualifier
Imperial have won the first South American qualifier for a chance to attend the $850,000 LAN.

Imperial have tasted success in their debut with Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes and (the still unannounced) José "Shr" Gil by progressing to the Thunderpick World Championship closed qualifier.
Only two spots are on offer in two South American qualifiers, so Imperial succeeding first time around is a boost for a team that had a tough Major and sacrificed vacation time in order to play the tournament.
They will now join Legacy, NAVI Junior, and 13 other teams in the global closed qualifier, where four invites for the eventual $850,000 Maltese LAN will be decided.

It was, however, old boys Kaiky "noway" Santos and Santino "try" Rigal that led the way with great semi-finals and grand finals respectively to secure the spot.
Imperial would have considered themselves favorites given the tournament break and a reduced team list, but ODDIK (#34 on HLTV ranking) and the Major-qualifiers BESTIA were no slouches and the win is still a good confidence boost for the new side.
The team list for the closed qualifier is now:
